Whereas so many other people working behind the cameras are doing nothing more than imitating the work of a John Stagliano or Max Hardcore, Award-winning director Nic Andrews is a talent whose strives to make high quality, erotic movies. And he succeeds wildly with DEVON STRIPPED, starring one of the brightest contract stars of Digital Playground in her one of the most memorable movies of her career. Blonde and busty Devon plays a struggling actress who breaks into the world of erotic entertainment. For anyone who ever thought of this former Vivid Girl as being just another hot babe will be disarmed by her dramatic performance here, where her initial awkwardness in getting naked for the cameras is convincing.

Don't get me wrong: I enjoyed watching this golden girl doing nothing but the nasty in Empire Bestsellers like DEVON: THE LOST FOOTAGE and as much as the next guy. But here, she gets to stretch her limits as an actress, as well as deliver all the carnal goodness we have come to expect. Her four sex scenes in DEVON STRIPPED (including an opener with Barrett Blade, and a back-to-back lesbian scene with Daniella Rush and Holly Hollywood) are more than enough reason for fans to pick up this title. But what clinched the deal for me was seeing her in action with Julian, in a final encounter which sizzles due to their natural chemistry. She carries the movie both sexually and dramatically.

Monica Sweetheart makes a brief, but movie-stealing appearance when she shows up at the desk of strip club owner Herschel Savage. Giving him a desk-side blowjob before giving his cock reverse cowgirl ride, Monica looks sensational, and her luscious deep throating as well as the final oral cumshot are captured with the best angles possible. So for those who enjoy watching a woman's body proudly paraded on camera, rest assured that DEVON STRIPPED is filled with enough tease and revealing skin worthy of an X-rated Victoria's Secret commercial.

Shot on "Mini 35 MM", the picture quality is excellent, and the letterboxed images should be viewed on a big screen monitor or projection television for maximum effect. The audio, with its rocking soundtrack (composed and performed by Derik Andrews) accompanying the numerous action and dialogue scenes, is also superb. The Special Features are among the most plentiful and most entertaining I've seen in any adult DVD and includes an actual casting video (where Miss Sweetheart looks absolutely luminous), bloopers footage (which is actually funny as hell and shows the cast having a grand old time amidst all the dramatic readings) and enough behind the scenes and promotional items to make any DVD collector salivate (assuming the jaw dropping cover photos of Devon, Monica and Ginger don't make you drool on sight).

In the end, long after the latest gonzo cheapie has been buried under the mountain of product this industry pours out, exceptional adult movies like DEVON STRIPPED will endure as a true blue classic. Highly recommended.

Every year, adult companies make a number of moves to try and improve their product. This may come in the form of picking up some new contract stars, hiring a new director or making other additions to the company. However, no studio in recent memory has made a better decision than the one-two punch Digital Playground performed when they signed both Devon and acclaimed director Nic Andrews to exclusive contracts. Those brilliant business decisions pay off in spades in Devon Stripped, easily the best feature film to be produced by Digital Playground, and one that is bound to have Devon mentioned in the same breath as Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick when it comes to the elite adult actresses working in the industry today.

We've all seen Devon perform before - her compilation DVDs are among the best selling in the industry. But thanks to Nic Andrews great direction, he also shows us a Devon that can act, as well as knock us out with her sexual energy - and whether it's the ability of Andrews to pull performances out of his talent, or Devon showing off some thespian skills that she never got a chance to show before on film, this is one performance that should be remembered come award time next year.

But Devon isn't the only one who shines in Devon Stripped - both Ginger Lynn and Herschel Savage also give great supporting performances, and when you combine those with what Devon does in this film, add a great script and Andrews' ability to shoot an adult movie like a mainstream motion picture, the result is one of the best features ever produced in the adult industry.

But to call this movie a simple "porno" would be an insult to those who put it together. It's a movie - with a beginning, middle and end - and those just looking to whack-off should go looking elsewhere. Yes, there's plenty of sex in Devon Stripped, but its action that is a logical result of the storyline - not something thrown in so fans can get their "jollys". Devon Stripped reminds one of those old classics (with a 21st century look, of course) where plot still mattered and the ultimate goal was to make something both erotic and meaningful.

Devon stars as Annette, a young aspiring actress who is going on a lot of casting calls, winds up showing a lot of skin, but is still not getting any work. She's best friends with Wanda (Ginger Lynn), whom she is surprised to find out makes her extra money by stripping. Devon is repulsed by the idea at first, but after Ginger double-dares her to check out the club where she works at (I was hoping Ginger would give Devon the dreaded "triple dog dare", but I guess she never watched A Christmas Story!), Devon sneaks away from her boyfriend one night to check out the strip bar.

Needing the extra money and not finding any real acting jobs, Devon decides to join Ginger at the club, and within a month is feature dancing herself. But the story (written by both Andrews and Beth Ann Rafael) doesn't sugarcoat the world of stripping, nor does it paint it out to be degrading either. It walks a fine line between being both appealing and unappetizing, and the honesty of the storyline is what makes Devon Stripped so interesting to watch.

Like all strip clubs, this one has a somewhat seedy owner (played by Herschel Savage), who takes advantage of the girls who work for him (don't miss the fantastic scene where Herschel "takes advantage" of Monica Sweetheart!). Savage does a fine job in his role, never going over the top or becoming too "evil", but being just sleazy enough for the viewer to dislike him...but not despise him.

As for the sexual action, there's an opening scene with Devon and Barrett B. (who plays her boyfriend) that is slow and erotic, yet still very hardcore. Also, in addition to the Savage/Sweetheart scene at the strip club, there's a lesbian scene in the club's bathroom between Monica Mayhem and (I believe) Nakita Kash; an additional lesbian scene with Devon and Holly Hollywood on the bar of the club; and a final coupling that finds Devon making out with Julian. In addition to the hardcore sex, there are also a number of dance routines and lap dances (mainly featuring Ginger Lynn and Devon, although not together) that may be the next best thing to seeing either of these performers live at a local club.

On the humorous side, fans won't want to miss the multiple cameos in Devon Stripped by the likes of April, Anthony Crane, Robby D., and director Nic Andrews himself - just to name a few.

Devon Stripped begins with the words "Based On A True Story", but the fact of the matter is that Andrews' film is based on many true stories, as it tells the tale of a woman who is an aspiring actress and finds herself lured into the world of stripping and sex. But there's no preaching by the director here - leaving it up to the viewer as to whether the path that Devon's character has taken is good, bad or simply the way life is.

The video and audio quality of Devon Stripped is top-notch, and comparable with most mainstream releases on DVD. The DVD is loaded with wonderful bonus features, including a great audio commentary with Nic Andrews, Devon, Ginger Lynn, Barrett B. and writer Beth Ann Rafael. There's also an entertaining behind the scenes look at the making of the film; and one of the more interesting bonuses I have ever seen on an adult DVD - actual footage of the casting call for the movie, where we get to see Monica Sweetheart try out for the lead role, in addition to Devon and Barrett reading for the parts that they would eventually get. In addition to these great supplements, viewers will also be treated to a bloopers reel, the complete audio segments from the radio program and strip club DJ that are heard in the background in several scenes of Devon Stripped, the trailer for the movie, a photo gallery and slide show (the same pics with the option of viewing them at your own pace or sitting back and enjoying them) and biographies for Devon, Ginger Lynn and Nic Andrews. In short, this is one loaded DVD with some great looking and well-designed menus that should have fans entertained for hours after they have viewed the feature presentation.

Well written, visually stunning and with a performance that should propel Devon into superstardom in the adult business (if indeed, she not there already), Devon Stripped is the kind of adult feature I hope for every time I slide a DVD into my player or a video into my VCR. You may watch it the first time for the sex, but you'll watch it again and again afterwards because it's a great film.

The movie starts off with Devon as an aspiring actress looking for work. But every job she tries out for they want to see skin, and the job always goes to the one who will do whatever it takes to get it. Ginger Lynn, Barret, Herschel Savage - they all nailed it. A visually stunning, realistic story that captures the strip club ambiance to perfection. Even the sex scenes fall in perfectly with the story. You don't get the feeling of the movie stopping just so they can have sex for the sake of having sex. It's more like a steamy mainstream film that simply left the camera rolling. Throw in a couple of really hot stripteases and couch dances by the irresistable Devon and porn legend Ginger Lynn and this is a movie any fan of adult films must see!

Unlike most attempts to bring Hollywood into adult entertainment, this works! Instead of coupling sex with action/ adventure/sci-fi or horror plots, Devon Stripped couples sex with drama - the sex was blazing hot, and it put me in the mood as soon as I saw sexy Devon get out of bed. But what really amazed me is when I found out that after i fell my wife stayed up to find out how this movie ended!
