After Dark

I had yet to pick up anything from Plum Productions or Pleasure Digital before I got my hands on After Dark (note: no flying toasters here). And while this production isn't bad, it is by no means the greatest feature to have ever been produced.

It starts off well enough... I can think of plenty of women, including Ava Vincent, that I'd imagine coming home, plopping down on the bed, and giving their cunts the finger treatment. Quite a few come to mind, actually. Anyhow, they don't stick with that nearly long enough, which is unfortunate. We jump over to a blonde on a couch watching television. The reporter comes on live from location for the news broadcast, and she quickly has him banging her on the couch. I'm fairly sure this is a dream sequence, but it makes about as much sense as a soap opera, so there you go. She puts in a good effort, taking it about six different ways on the same couch, and has one laid on her face at the end. It's nice, just not spectacular.

The second scene is in a movie theatre, and continues this trend of rather odd camera work and editing. Evan Stone and a blonde get it on, but the lighting is really not all that great, and this winds up being little more than average.

Skylar Knight does a nice scene. She's a hot little number, perhaps a touch overshadowed by Gwen Summers for the hot lithe brunette title. Great to look at, nice, perky little tits, killer face, and a body built to fuck. It's not her fault this title isn't quite my type, and she puts in a typically hot performance. One of my complaints, though, is the constant eye contact with the camera during head giving sequences: it's something most of the girls in this feature get up to, and it must be a quirk of the director. Don't get me wrong, this can be done well. Just ask Antonio Adamo (or better yet, pick up a couple of his titles for Private); he has that manoeuvre fairly well mastered. But when not done right, like in this feature, it just stands out for all of the wrong reasons.

Skylar does take a chest shot from the guy, after a somewhat decent, if blurry, sequence. Pick up Goddess if you'd like to see more of her... especially in a nice masturbation sequence.

The three-way bit is okay, but perhaps a bit dated. This feature was produced in 1999, but it has more of a Vivid circa 1995 feel to it with this scene, like maybe from Where the Boys Aren't 9. At least they don't go for the strobe lights in this one, though they do plenty of that on the opening menu...

The girls have some great bodies on them, and there is absolutely no problem watching them do their thing with the guy. Great tongue work all the way around. Still, this is blurry, and that seriously reduces the enjoyability of it. I'd like to be able to see all the right parts clearly to really get into things.

Alec Metro gets all up in quite the hot, pale little number. She's very much my type, though the sex is somewhat average, which disappoints me a bit. They finally got the lighting levels up for this one, but that just amplified the blurriness of the whole affair. Full points for the effort on this scene, but the product just doesn't match what was put into it.

Pleasure and Plum have a bit of catching up to do in production techniques if they want to compete with the big boys of porn. The quality just isn't there in this otherwise enjoyable disc. Had this been a decade ago, I would have called it a work of art. As it stands now, it falls short of expectations.

The menu is loud as hell, as mentioned before. And the "More Fun" thing just takes you to some horrifying phone sex ads from about 1985. The audio and video quality is poor, and drags this title down a bit further.
