Sorority Shower Cam

Sorority Shower Cam follows Jim Holliday's signature light-hearted approach to adult movie making. In fact, it would be hard to attribute this movie to any other director. Filled with young attractive beauties (almost all blondes) and a number of quirky setups and characters, Holliday's style is heavily influenced by early adult features; although light, the story propels the action. Unfortunately, the action is about as light-weight as the story. There's plenty of scenes to choose from, but they're all pretty bland with no real defining moments.

As you may have assumed, the story is set at a college during the first week of a new semester. While the students were away, a couple of geeks (Root Logins and Devan Sapphire) trying to gain acceptance in a fraternity installed a number of hidden cameras in one of the sorority houses, particularly in the shower; you may remember similar antics from Revenge of the Nerds. When the sorority sisters arrive, Sydnee discovers the prank and tells all the girls about the cameras. Instead of being outraged by their invasion of privacy, the girls can't wait to express their inner exhibitionist. On the other side of campus, the two geeks and other fraternity members are treated to numerous closed circuit girl/girl encounters.

Although I'm not a huge fan of girl/girl scenes, jamming a bunch of naked girls into a shower is never a bad thing. These shower sequences vary in length, but are sprinkled throughout the feature as a kind of filler. Even the opening credits feature a nice little coupling with Allysin Chaynes and Chrissy Sparks. Later, Felecia shows off her oral talents with Envy before Jeanie Rivers and Phoenix Haight take to the shower in an attempt to wash away their nastiness. The best girl/girl scene involves a different shower and features Sydnee Steele and Envy. Unlike the other girls (and guys for that matter), they seem to really get into one another and turn out an above average performance.

While much of the girl/girl action takes place in the heavily monitored shower, the movie's boy/girl scenes are set away from the prying lenses of the hidden cameras. When Sydnee returns back to school, she wastes little time before getting it on with Dillion Day. Likewise, Barrett Moore doesn't seem settled back into the grind until Devin Wolf stops by to plug her ass. Mark Vega and Allysin Chaynes begin their scene in a shower, but take the action outdoors, where Mark delivers an under powered facial that mainly dribbles onto Allysin's neck and shoulders. In the last boy/girl scene, Lee Stone gives Tina Cheri a thorough bedroom workout including a bit of anal and the movie's best facial. Altogether, the boy/girl scenes are pretty mediocre; they simply go through the standard positions in a strictly professional manner. The girls add some nice vocalization, but it's not enough to make these scenes stand out.

Technically, Sorority Shower Cam is another top-notch DVD from VCA. The crisp image of Chrissy and Allysin in the shower during the opening titles immediately shows off the superior picture quality of the DVD format and sets the tone for the rest of the feature. This incredible picture quality continues throughout the entire movie with no noticeable instances of pixelation or blotchy colors. The audio is presented in a clean Dolby 2.0 format with pretty good mixing all the way around. The music is a little heavy at times and may be a distraction to those who prefer natural soundtracks, but the Tejano style accordion and guitar music is a unique addition. There are also a few moments where the dialogue levels drop really low for some reason; it doesn't ruin the movie, but it's a slight imperfection worth noting. I was expecting a director's commentary or a behind the scenes featurette, but all this DVD has to offer in the extras category are some multiple angles and a photo gallery. There's also a decent girl/girl foot fetish bonus scene with Jill Kelly, but first you'll have to pass a somewhat flawed quiz to access it. Alternatively, select the DVD's eighth title (not chapter) to view it.

Maybe I've been spoiled by the genuine nastiness of the gonzo genre, but there wasn't much to this feature that impressed me. Jim Holliday claims he selflessly concentrates on shooting stuff that fans want to see, but this appears to be a mere cover for his own self-indulgence; I find it hard to believe that any real fan wants to sit through so many girl/girl scenes. Still, the movie is well produced and features plenty of eye candy. So if that sort of thing is important to you, then you probably won't be too disappointed with Sorority Shower Cam. Even if I didn't care for the movie, it's certainly one of the better looking DVDs I've seen.
