Bottom Dweller, The

A single scene --- nay, a single moment --- between the great Tiffany Mynx and sexy Nikki Shane elevates THE BOTTOM DWELLER, a surprisingly half-hearted effort from director Patrick Collins, into something more than just a below-average porno. As if to match the quality of the content itself, this DVD transfer looks like it was taken directly from a rental videotape, as the image quality is no better and sometimes worse than a VHS tape. So unless you desperately want the convenient access and permanence of a disc as opposed to magnetic tape, there may be little reason to choose this DVD over the VHS counterpart.

The obvious theme of this video deals with boats and butts, but most of the sex takes place in the cabin of a docked yacht and the anal sex is rather routine. One of my favorite brunettes in porn, Summer Knight, is all but in an amateurishly-photographed girl-girl session with Tawny. The late, great director Bruce Seven is nearby strictly as an observer, and while Summer looks great and smiles throughout her scene, I've seen her in better, hotter videos (I refer viewers to the first three PUSSYMAN movies to see Ms. Knight at her sexiest!). Their lesbian scene is long on cunnilingus, but short on kissing (which to me is the hottest activity two girls can do with each other). Lanky Lacy Rose gets it on with Tom Byron, and Patrick Collins has his way with the over-endowed Wendy Whoppers, but these straight scenes are no better and no worse than your average porn film coupling.

The saving grace of this flick comes in the pairing of Tiffany Mynx and Nikki Shane. They get to share some one-on-one time together with Patrick Collins watching nearby, and at first their scene seems to be nothing more than your usual carpet-munching, dildo-wielding lesbian vignette. However, the movie takes an interesting turn for the better when their scene continues in a room filled with bondage and fetish equipment (none which are used) and Nick East joins in on the party. Soon, all three begin partying together with Nick alternately inserting his cock in Tiffany's hot, wet pussy and then into Nikki's equally hot, wet mouth. When Nick is not able to hold back any longer, he splooges outside Tiffany's snatch, while occasionally splashing on Nikki's face. Nikki greedily licks the droplets of cum spilled all over Tiffany's thighs and crotch, then almost unexpectedly, moves directly over her face and spits a tongue-full of white stuff directly into Tiffany's mouth, who swallows it without reservation. Although Nikki's hand almost gets in the way of this semen shot, this little cum-swapping gesture is a satisfying end to what otherwise would have been just another hot threesome. Although recent videos from Rodney Moore and Anabolic have taken oral cumshots to the next level of depravity, this novel scene from THE BOTTOM DWELLER still holds well and loses none of its eroticism even with all the touch, cum-eating video competition. If the rest of the video were as good as this final scene, this DVD would be a must-have.

As stated before, the somewhat smeary video quality is barely above that of the VHS release. Video dropouts, noise bars and scratches litter the picture throughout. I have no idea whether this was the best master that Elegant Angel could come up with to transfer the DVD, but it definitely shows that their archived library of tapes need better storage conditions. The extras on the video include a single trailer for WET SPOTS #5 (why this particular video is being promoted out of all other is anyone's guess), a promotional ad for the Elegant Angel website, and a photo gallery which looks likes someone hit the "pause" button of a VHS rental at random times.

Elegant Angel, no doubt, makes some top-notch porn, and I think I have bought just about every other release of theirs that has appeared on DVD (although I still anxiously await THE ANAL DIARY OF MISTY RAIN and several of my favorite SODOMANIA editions). This release is definitely not one of their best, although Tiffany Mynx and Nikki Shane certainly make it a tempting purchase.

A classic Patrick Collins video from 1993 gets the DVD treatment, to the joy of Roscoe Bowltree fans everywhere. The disc looks very good, with a relatively crisp transfer and only color noise and moire. The audio is pretty poor, but this is most likely due to the source material.
