Sweet Ann Marie...She's My Heart's Delight!

By Spooky
As someone who does a moderate amount of traveling during the year, I'm one of those people who often wonder what might be going on in the other rooms when I stay at a hotel. This is partially because I'm a curious person, but mostly because nothing of consequence is ever going on in my own room! Robby D. takes this premise and turns it into an adult film in Sweet 101, his directorial debut for Digital Playground after helming a number of movies for Vivid.

Sweet 101 is presented from the viewpoint of a bellhop, played by Eric Masterson, who is on his first day at the job and gets stuck with the night shift. It isn't long before hotel guests are calling him up and making requests, and Eric's curiosity causes him to witness a number of sexual encounters and even gets him involved in one in the film's final segment.

First up is a call from a room where April and Marty Romano are staying. The two play a married couple who are having an argument - with Marty brandishing a and threatening to hurt either April or himself because he believes she has been cheating on him. When Eric comes up to the room, he is able to get the off of Marty, and while Eric returns to the front desk, Marty and April make up with a passionate love scene in their hotel room.

Of course, hotels across America are the home of the business traveler, and the second scene features Tyce Bune doing what many businessmen do while staying on the road: calling up the services of an escort. But no escort I've ever met (and I want it on the record that I haven't met many escorts!) has had the spunk, sexuality or downright drop-dead gorgeous body of Ann Marie, who makes out with Tyce in what is easily Sweet 101's best sequence. She starts off with an impressive blowjob, and then rides him cowgirl style as Tyce is lying between the two bed in the room - with his feet and legs on the end of one bed and his head and shoulders on the end of the other bed. Moving onto one of the beds, Ann Marie then rides him reverse cowgirl style for a while and then switches to doggy position, where Tyce climaxes by squirting his load on her ass. The action in this sequence is fast and furious, with Ann participating in her share of "dirty talk". It all adds up to one of the better sexual encounters I have seen in any adult movie this year.

Those looking at the cast listing of Sweet 101 may notice that both Aurora Snow and Jay Ashley are listed as performers - which may lead one to believe that they have a scene together, since the two are a real-life couple and only occassionally seem to perform without the other one present. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Aurora's scene in Sweet 101 isn't with Jay, but with Evan Stone. The two play a pair of hippies who get Eric to bring up some "munchies" (they're Twinkies) because they've apparently been smoking some pot, and as we all know, pot tends to make people want to snack afterwards (once again, I want it on the record that this reviewer has no pot smoking experience either...well, let me just say "I didn't inhale" and leave it at that!). Aurora and Evan's scene is notable because it contains the only facial climax of the film...and it's a nice one.

If there's a weak scene in Sweet 101, it's the next to last one, which is a blowjob/handjob-only segment between Kaylynn and Jay Ashley. Jay's freaked out because he is hearing voices and thinks there is someone outside their window, but Kaylynn is too horny to care and just wants to get laid. She goes down on him for a prolonged sucking session, but just when she is ready to start riding his dick, Jay climaxes with a cumshot that mostly goes on Kaylynn's hand, although it does look like some managed to make its way onto her face. Fortunately, Kaylynn's very good at going down, so the scene still proves to be pretty watchable.

The final scene has Eric investigating the bathroom of one of the rooms, where he finds Faith Adams emerging from the tub. She slowly drops to her knees and gives Eric one heck of a good blowjob before the two go at each other in the missionary and cowgirl positions. While not as hot or wild as the scene earlier in the movie between Ann Marie and Tyce, this segment gets my vote for the second best coupling in the film. It's more slow and passionate than the Ann Marie scene, but it is almost as equally arousing.

As is the norm for a release from Digital Playground, both the video and audio quality of this DVD are top-notch. There's a commentary track with director Robby D. and (surprise!) Nic Andrews, whom we find out actually directed the opening credits for the film! The commentary alone is probably worth the price of the film, as anyone who has heard Nic in other commentary tracks can attest, and this one is no less entertaining. The fun thing about hearing Nic on commentary tracks is that he isn't afraid to make negative and sarcastic remarks if called for, and it adds a lot of color to the track. Like the commentary for Rush, the commentary on Sweet 101 is one of the best I have heard in a while. Other bonuses include a biography for Robby D.; a reviews section with quotes from notable adult reviewers (including yours truly, hence the mention of this section!); and a humorous behind the scenes featurette.

Clocking in at a brisk 83 minutes, Sweet 101 doesn't waste a lot of time with storytelling and focuses primarily on the sexual activity - so unlike many other features that Digital Playground has released in the past, here's a movie that should not only appeal to couples, but the good ol' raincoater crowd as well. There's enough here to interest those looking for a story, but those just looking for some hot women in action should find plenty in Sweet 101 to enjoy. If only for the Ann Marie scene alone, Sweet 101 should win a spot on your adult DVD shelf.

Entertaining feature film, sex is average

By Luke Loader
I usually buy Digital Playground movies for their fantastic video and audio quality, although the movies themselves are sometimes hit or miss. Sweet 101 is no different. It has great video, and was very clear on my HDTV. The movie itself didn't do much for me since I rarely watch adult feature films, because I tend to lose interest in them.

Sweet 101 reminds me of Quentin Tarrantino's "Four Rooms" which came out a few years ago. There are a few scenes which are good for people just buying it for the sex. The highlight of the movie is probably Anne Marie's scene where she plays an escort who has gone to the hotel to entertain a client. The only thing that was really distracting in this scene was the constant editing which jumped all over the place. I wish more directors would show a scene from start to finish instead of jumping from oral right into the sex.

The other scenes in the movie are average. April and Aurora Snow both have OK scenes, which use condoms, but both have done much better work. If you're buying this movie for those girls, you may be let down.

The bottom line on Sweet 101 is that it is a good movie for couples. The Anne Marie scene is above average, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this entire DVD just for that one scene. It has great video quality and the bonus features are entertaining. In terms of the film, I'd give it an above average rating when matched up against other features.
