Mating Game, The

It would have been nice if the production values on this were a notch better than what they were. Sure, a porn version of "The Dating Game" has been done before, and better, but we all like to see new women in new scenarios. However, "The Mating Game" comes off as a very bad cable access show, and even cable access does a better job.

Like the original game show, "The Mating Game" is centered around three bachelorettes, a man in waiting, and the corny game show host, in this case one Chuck Druelery (Jonathan Morgan). The questions are dumb, the humor between the ladies isn't there, and what we really want to see is some fucking.

The first bachelorettes are the beautiful Timber, Charlie, and busty redhead Sana Fey. The questions are dull, but the ones who seem to have the most personality and humor are Timber and Charlie. But the bachelor picks Sana Fey, and instead of going out on some luxurious date, they get to fuck in front of the camera for everyone to see. After all, this is "The Mating Game".

In the next round, Sana Fey is replaced by an attractive, small-busted woman named Wild Cat (we know her better as Cheyenne Silver). She looks like a number of top Hollywood actresses, so the viewer is lucky to get a chance to see her in action. The next bachelor goes out of his way to be clever, but it is host Chuck Druelery who has the most enthusiasm out of everyone. The bachelor chooses Timber, and she peels out of her business suit and into a one-piece stocking number, highlighting her best features. Timber looks like she is enjoying herself, playing with her nipples and sucking on his cock as best as she can, but it seems the man can't stay hard long enough to enjoy his winnings. Chuck Druelery kicks him out, and we get to see Timber play with her pussy some more.

That leaves us with only two bachelorettes. The main focus in this segment is Charlie, a woman with real breasts who is definitely appealing to the men and women who are calling into the show. See, this isn't just an adult "Dating Game", it's interactive.

Eventually, Wild Cat and Charlie get it on with each other by caressing, kissing, and eating each other out, as well as using dildos to play with.

At the end, host Chuck Druelery gets a chance to fuck either one of the girls. Despite the audience favoring Charlie, she mentions in her answers that she only goes girl-girl, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Chuck goes at it with Wild Cat.

At this point, you wonder why you even watched this in the first place. "The Mating Game" probably took a minute to think up, and two hours to videotape and produce. It's a failed attempt at what could have been a nice piece of work, but it fails because of the low-production quality.

There is a certain cheesiness about this that would have made it work, but this seems like it was rushed released, without care for its content. It might be good for a rental or a gift, but not as something to place permanently in your collection.

Jonathan Morgan used to be involved in a number of adult pay-per-view efforts entitled Late Night Sex with Jonathan Morgan, in which the sex was all improvised (although the actors and actresses were no doubt paired up beforehand) and anything could happen. That's basically the premise of The Mating Game, which seems to be another live-on-film effort, although I do not know whether this was part of Jonathan's Late Night series, or another pay-per-view series that he did, but director Cash Markman was behind both endeavors.

Once I realized that the events were happening live (or at least, live when this took place), I thought it might make for a very interesting video. However, if The Mating Game proves anything, it proves that pre-recorded sex is much more appealing.

The premise of the title basically follows that of the old game show, The Dating Game, where three lovely women are questioned by one bachelor, and he must determine from their answers which woman to go out with...or in our particular case, which woman to make out with! The bachelor for the first round of action is J.J. Michaels, and the three women he is questioning are Sana Fey, Charlie and Timber. Of course, anyone in his right mind would pick Charlie out of this line-up, but since Charlie only does guys occasionally on film...we know right away that any action she will see with be of the girl-girl variety. So left with only two choices, J.J. picks the least appealing of the remaining two, Sana Fey. The action between the two isn't as exciting as you would expect, and the scene is done a lot quicker, proving that porn guys don't hold out as long as the movies would have you believe.

After J.J. and Sana leave, Cheyenne Silver (going by her early stage name of Wild Cat) is added to the mix of eligible women, and Joel Lawrence is brought out at the next lucky bachelor. Once again, Joel picks the least appealing of the three, chosing Timber. As if things weren't bad enough for Joel, he can't maintain an erection during the action, and the two have to stop. This gives host Jonathan Morgan the chance to take some phone calls from the viewers, a few of which take some cheap shots at Joel's inability to maintain a woody.

With only two girls remaining, Jonathan decides it would be fun to let the viewers vote on who he gets to screw. Of course, Jonathan wants to see both girls in action first, and in what is the only appealing sex scene in the entire feature, Charlie and Cheyenne get it on. After they are finished, Jonathan starts taking phone calls, and almost every single caller is fawning over the wonders of Charlie. Of course, there isn't a chance in hell that Charlie is going to get it on with Jonathan, so when the votes come in (no doubt counted by the Florida Election Board), Cheyenne claims victory and gets to have some fun with Mr. Morgan.

All of this was probably very fun to watch on pay-per-view when it originally aired, but for a DVD, this is not something that one would care to watch more than once, and probably not worth a place on your permanent shelf, unless you are a huge fan of one of the actresses in this movie. The bonus features don't offer any additional reason to own the disc, which include a slide show and a photo gallery, both which contain the same photographs.

However, if this is the type of disc that you think might appeal to you, rest assured that the folks at Digital Playground have done a nice job of transferring the material to the digital format. Both the video and audio on this disc are above average in quality.

Overall, while an interesting idea, The Mating Game just doesn't deliver in the sex department, and therefore cannot be recommended. If there is one thing that really does stand out here, it is watching Jonathan Morgan's brilliant ability to ad-lib on the spot, showing that he has a quick wit and great sense of humor, which comes out in many of the films he has written and directed.
