Pretty Girl

Eric Masterson, better known as Mr. Maya/Wendy Divine, keeps going and going. This young gent is on his way to being the next Randy Spears or Randy West. A true legend and good for him. In this Vivid production, written and directed by David Stanley, Eric is a porn director who falls for one of his stars that he really cannot have. But as the boss, can he slip up and slip into the entertainment? When the desired lady is the extremely cute Ashley Blue, one can quickly see the reasoning here.

The film starts out with our director at home taking shagging his significant other played by Lesley Zen. Have you noticed at all how Lezley has some very similar characteristics as Sydnee Steele? That might be why we have started to take a liking to her.

On the set, Alex Sanders and Briana Banks are in their scene. Briana is clearly the star of Pretty Girl and steals the film in each show. This time she gets really, really nasty with Alex in one of those real hot sessions where you can really tell that the pair is comfortable working with each other and the passion is no action, but natural chemistry.

Moving to her next scene with no rest. Briana goes at it again with some help from Ashley. Aside from some girl/boy/girl play, Ashley does not really participate in the program and just sits on the side and pleasures herself by sticking as many fingers as possible inside her after getting them nice and moist from sticking her entire hand in her mouth. Ashley simply looks phenomenal. She has some highlights in her hair, a suntan, a new tattoo and some great make-up. She continues to play with fans with her timid, girl next store look, but then turns 180 degrees in to one nasty slut.

Trying as best as he can to hook up with Ashley, and we could understand his reasons, Eric's obsession. Unfortunately, Ashley's boyfriend keeps getting in the way. But through it all, there is still the beauty of fantasy.

After a very erotic photo shoot, Eric thinks he can get his chance to go for it, but Ashley's main man comes to the rescue again. Unfortunately for Eric, the reality seems it may never happen.

This is a great film for people who like the star qualities of a Briana Banks as well as the up and cummer side of an Ashley Blue. It is full of great sex and a thin plot that does not get in the way. From a special features side, there is the usual menu of Behind the Scenes, photos, previews, etc.

I suppose there's some irony in the fact that director David Stanley's most personal movie for Vivid also proves to be his least entertaining one. Pretty Girl is a semi-autobiographical movie that is narrated by Stanley himself, and while the sex scenes are decent, whatever message or moral David is trying to get across to his viewer gets lost in the process.

Like a Wonder Years of pornography, David tells us about his life and how he got involved in the industry. He's actually portrayed by Eric Masterson in the movie - and David claims that every time we see Eric in one of his films, that Eric is basically playing him in front of the camera.

As the movie opens, we see Eric getting it on with Lezley Zen - apparently representing a girlfriend that David had who dumped him. As he starts filming porn, he falls hard for Ashley Blue, and the viewer has to spend far too much of the movie hearing Mr. Stanley whine about how he would like to ask her out, can't get up the nerve - and then when he does, wishes he hadn't said anything at all. I'm guessing if Woody Allen ever hit rock-bottom and had to make a porn film, this is the kind of stuff he'd make us sit through.

If there's some good news to come out of Pretty Girl, it's the fact that Briana Banks participates in three of the five sex scenes. In fact, it's Briana (and to some degree, Ashley Blue) who saves this porn by giving the viewer some entertaining sex to watch. Briana's hottest scene is her first - in which she gets it hard from porn stud Evan Stone (whom I don't believe even gets a line of dialogue in this movie). Evan fucks her doggy, missionary and reverse cowgirl, then hovers over her and his cock down into her throat before pulling it out to squirt all over her chest.

Briana is also involved in a threesome with Trevor Zen and Ashley Blue - although it should be noted that Ashley doesn't do anything really hardcore in this segment, and basically just masturbates and jerks Trevor's cock off until he shoots onto Briana's body.

Briana has one more coupling (the next to last sex scene in the film) - this time with porn veteran Steven St. Croix, that covers just two positions (doggy and missionary) before Steven cums on her body.

In the final scene, we finally get to see Ashley in some hardcore action - although given the kind of nasty stuff Ashley has done in other titles, this may seem pretty tame to her fans. She starts off by sucking on Eric Masterson's cock, and then gets it doggy, missionary and cowgirl - ending with a facial.

Although the film only runs 69-mintues (an appropriate number, I suppose...but short even for a Vivid release), it actually seems much longer because of all the rambling diatribes that David Stanley partakes in between the sexual action. He even complains about not getting great reviews from AVN magazine - as if mentioning the fact will suddenly give their reviewers a change of mind.

As far as the DVD version of Pretty Girl is concerned, Vivid has once again provided viewers with their money's worth. Five bonus scenes (three with Briana); a 10-mintue behind the scenes featurette; a pair of slide shows; multiple angles and a handful of trailers are just some of the goodies you'll find on this disc. The video is above-average for an adult release, but there is a noticeable problem with the audio. While all of the performers dialogue sounds fine, the voice-overs by Stanley are remarkably low - meaning you'll be turning up the sound to hear what he's saying, then turning it back down again for the other parts of the film.

Once again, this seems to be a very autobiographical piece - and perhaps David Stanley has exorcised any porn demons he may be carrying around in his brain by getting his thoughts expressed in this film. But as most porn directors will tell you, it's more important to please the fans than to please yourself - and Pretty Girl just didn't have enough eroticism or good ol' fashioned hardcore fun to please this reviewer.
