But I'm With The Band

Multiple AVN-Award winning director (and performer) Brad Armstrong serves up another entertaining, if predictable and slight, adult feature with I'M WITH THE BAND starring the lusciously cute Keri Sable. She plays a groupie who uses her corporeal assets and physically expressive talents to meet her favorite band "Blade," headed by Barrett Blade who plays the lead singer. The storyline is about as forgettable as the music soundtrack (this movie plays more like GRAFFITI BRIDGE than PURPLE RAIN), and the action scenes are straightforward to the point of routine. Hours after I finished watching this disc, I couldn't recall anything remarkable about it.

Yet there is a charming MTV-like feel to the whole affair. Shot on high definition video, the anamorphic images are clean and pleasing to the eye, but still retain that distinctive low budget look, appropriate for the subject matter. Porn and rock and roll (and I'm not talking about just the style of music) go together as well as rice and raw fish, but for some reason, this pairing has not been exploited very successfully in the past. (Most titles are content to setting hardcore scenes to music like regular videos, or else presenting some "backstage" look into the recreational life of a rapper, or even worse, packaging "private home videos" of has-been rockers with their pornstar groupies.) I'M WITH THE BAND, however, succeeds in giving us an x-rated marriage of the two outlaw genres, and the result is a video which is sexually effective and still lighthearted.

Miss Sable appears in five of eight full-length sex scenes, beginning with a blowjob on Kris Knight (playing a box office cashier who in a fair exchange, gets her a ticket to the performance); then continuing with a bathroom-based, girl-girl encounter with Kristin Price (who also plays a groupie); followed by a straight scene with Kris Slater (a souvenir vendor). As one can tell just by the set-ups alone, there is a natural progression to the sex scenes: Keri climbs higher and higher on the backstage ladder by opening her legs wider and wider. In between her little affairs, we are treated to others enjoying the good life of sex, (although most of the players here play it clean and sober for the most part) and rock and roll: the director himself plays a security guard who gets to tag Layla Rivera; Jessica Drake and Sofia Sandobar join in pleasing band manager Randy Spears (the final cum swap, though not especially graphic, is a great bonus); and later concert attendees Vivian West blows boyfriend Rusty Nails to completion before the really big show.

When Keri finally gets backstage with the band, our favorite groupie becomes the center of a fantasy-based foursome with her idols, Barrett Blade, Tommy Gunn and Eric Masterson. Mr. Gunn gets to do her anally, but all the guys cum on her face. Because each dude gets his shot at her one at a time, there is not much of a gangbang quality to this segment, so audiences shouldn't expect too much. Surprisingly, I found the concluding limousine segment with Blade, Keri and Eva Angelina to be the most arousing, even though cramped quarters of a limousine aren't exactly conducive to carnal acrobatics. However, as far as threesomes go, it's pretty darn decent with alternate cock sucking (although that's always nice) and cock riding, punctuated with the occasional lesbian action. Naturally, it helps to a hottie like Eva Angelina increasing the eye-candy value, and the shared cum facial is always a plus.

Bonus materials on this disc include an enjoyable one-on-one between Keri and Eric Masterson excerpted from the highly acclaimed CAMP CUDDLY PINES POWERTOOL MASSACRE, several well-made studio promos; and a behind the scenes featurette on I'M WITH THE BAND which runs slightly less than thirty minutes. I was surprised to see that a director's commentary wasn't included on this disc, but then again, it's clear that this title is a "smaller" production when compared to Armstrong's "bigger" cinematic events. However, I enjoyed I'M WITH THE BAND from beginning to end, and so will you.

If But I'm With The Band is any indication of the kind of Wicked Contract Girl Keri Sable might have been, porn fans are really going to be missing out. As most of you already know, the sweet and petite star recently decided to give up porn and go back to school for her education. Her gain...our loss. But Keri still has a few more releases due out, and But I'm With The Band is one of the best features I've seen her in.

Directed by Brad Armstrong, the movie has Keri playing a rock groupie, who will do anything...and I do mean anything...to get backstage with her favorite rocker, Blade (played appropriately enough by Barrett Blade). So as the movie begins, Keri is making her first move - that of getting a ticket - by sucking off the ticket booth guy, played by Kris Knight.

Once inside, Keri tries to get past the security guard (played by Brad Armstrong) by offering him the same thing she offered the ticket guy. But Brad is already getting some action from Layla Rivera, so it's "too little too late" for Ms. Sable (hey Brad, ever hear of a three-way, buddy?).

Next, Keri finds herself in a bathroom with Kirsten Price and the two girls decide to go into one of the stalls and explore their bisexual side. Kirsten begins first, licking out and fingering Keri - who soon returns the favor. Kirsten then pulls a purple vibe from her purse and starts fucking Keri with it, followed shortly by a smaller blue and white swirl-colored vibe which she sticks into Keri's ass, thereby giving her a double penetration with the toys.

Still determined to get backstage with Barrett, Keri next cons a vendor (Kris Slater) into giving her a concession uniform by letting him have her way with him on top of the counter. Kris gives her missionary and doggy style action before jerking his cum onto her behind.

Keri finally makes her way to the dressing room, where Blade's manager (Randy Spears) is making out with Jessica Drake and Sofia Sandobar. Keri doesn't want to join in, but the rest of us get to watch as Randy takes turns fucking both girls, concluding with a pop-shot into Jessica's mouth - some of which she swaps with Sofia.

When the stage manager of the concert sees Keri in uniform, he mistakenly thinks she's a missing member of the band and gives her a tambourine and sends her out on stage. While out there, Keri starts to fantasize about being sexually intimate with each of the band members, starting with Barrett Blade, and then with Eric Masterson and finally Tommy Gunn (who anally pounds her doggy style). Keri's fantasy ends with a triple facial as each guy, in turn, unloads on her face.

Before the final sex scene, viewers will get to catch a dimly-lit blowjob scene that takes place in the audience between Vivian West and Rusty Nails. Then we follow Keri outside where she realizes someone has towed her car. But Keri is in luck, as Barrett's limo pulls up to offer her a ride. Inside, Keri finds that Barrett already has another groupie with him (played by Eva Angelina), and the three engage in some hot and heavy action in the back of the limousine that ends with Barrett shooting on both girls' faces.

One of the nicest things about this DVD is that Wicked has anamorphically enhanced the picture, which means widescreen TV owners will be able to enjoy the picture in it's full glory without having to zoom in or make any adjustments. Oddly, although the DVD advertises 5.1 Dolby, I found that the track was only 2.0. This is especially odd since virtually every Wicked feature in the past several years has contained 5.1 sound.

Extras on the disc are made up of a 26-minute behind the scenes featurette; an 11-minute Keri Sable/Eric Masterson scene taken from Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre; slide shows; cast bios; and promo materials that include a look at the 2006 Wicked Girl reel that debuted at the AVN Show this past January.

But I'm With The Band is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the fast paced story, and the sex - with a whopping eight sex scenes - was both enjoyable and fairly arousing. Now if only porn reviewers had groupies too, then we might be onto something!
