Signature Series Vol. 1: Asia Carrera

Assuming a role of "stability" within a volatile and high turnover business is difficult I'm sure. As in the case of adult cinema, talent comes and goes like the wind with very few (actors) planting themselves firmly into the lifestyle that so many outsiders may believe is the "life". It is not that easy. There are, however, the few who manage to grasp the pornworld by the balls and survive. Asia Carrera is certainly one of those few. Adam and Eve's Signature Series Volume 1 is solely dedicated to she, the self-proclaimed nerd of porn, Asia.

The entire DVD is comprised of nine specially sex scenes carefully chosen from various titles in which Asia has either starred or appeared. To segue each scene, Asia, haphazardly interviewed by porn actor Steve Hatcher, delves into her personal history, noteworthy on-camera experiences and her love of classical piano and modern technology. For fans of Ms. Carrera, this is certainly a worthwhile addition to a porn library. Those who are unfamiliar with this particular bombshell may also find the DVD an entertaining and somewhat enlightening experience, with regard to the inside look at a porn star. Plus, she is quite beautiful and, under most circumstances, displays on-screen charm laced with sweaty performances matched by few others working in the industry today.

Adam and Eve, as a rule, tries to produce enjoyable, couples friendly erotica. This compilation of Asia scenes is rather mild in the way of action, thus fitting the mold A and E has in place. In fact, Asia herself is not known for participating in particularly "raunchy" scenes anyway, so creating a comp with "friendly" written all over it was an easy task. The only drawback... viewers in search of "anal" or hardcore "cum-gobbling" will most definitely NOT find that here. But, this is absolutely a safe, yet sometimes cheesy, porno that offers some variety - albeit mild variety.

Okay... so what's in it?

Nine scenes culled from various titles including; Corporate Affairs II, Search for the Snow Leopard and Always Lily White - just to name a few. Asia's situations range from orgy scenes to straight-up one on one action with top-notch male talent. Two especially noteworthy scenes are the Michael J. Cox double pop-shot and the Asia/Gerry Pike outdoors water adventure.

Introducing the first, Asia explains how Cox, overly excited, "pops" too early causing directorial grief. The mighty Cox hushes the director with an upstanding show of resilience when he immediately continues to intensely bone Asia... thus producing "money shot" number two!

The outdoors Asia/Gerry scene stood out, in my mind, more than any other. Opening with Asia naked under a falling stream of water, Gerry Pike enters the picture. This segment taken from The Dinner Party is of particular interest due highly in part to the stylized manner of filming. Exotic, wet, and downright steamy, this scene contains wonderfully choreographed sex which includes a fine blowjob teamed with a methodical fuck. Short in length, yet nicely done.

In summation, Signature Series Vol. 1 was entertaining enough to hold my interest, but warily walked a fine line teetering on points of boredom, as I felt some of Asia's best work was not profiled being replaced by a few lukewarm scenes. So, that being said, for those with high regard for "any" works of sexual art performed by Asia Carrera or viewers with milder tastes, in the market for a comp rather than a full-length feature film, you may find acceptable if not above-average enjoyment with S.S. 1.
