Diabolic's 1 ON 1 #2 is one of those rare gonzo flicks in which everything works despite the lack of any novel theme (such as cum-swapping or domination) or any artistic approach on the part of the director. It's the ideal fuck-flick with attractive women in every scene, straight-forward sex in which the chemistry feels neither faked nor , and where the technical quality easily matches the erotic content. This Blu-ray disc captures the erotic imagery beautifully, with colorful, widescreen images full of vivid detail which flatter the women as opposed to exposing the unavoidable flaws of the human body. Kudos to both director Gregg Allan and his videographer for producing a product which doesn't succumb to the pasty, cheesy look of his lesser competitors. The two-channel audio won't please those who - for whatever reason - want to blast their porn in surround sound, but I found it more than adequate at aurally capturing the sexual shenanigans of this enjoyable piece of porn.

Naturally, the title itself imposes limitations on the kind of action presented in this video. I really can't think of anything more generic in porn that a guy-girl scene, but here, the emphasis is on playfulness and passion. Sure, these people are professionals, and can probably do anything by rote, but I found their reactions pretty convincing. In the case of performers like Melissa Lauren and Ann Marie Rios, we see them engaging in an act often unheard of in gonzo: kissing! If there is one universal suggestion I would have for all porn directors, it's to let the performers do more foreplay and more lip-locking. Such intimacy can go a long way.

1 ON 1 #2 starts off with a bang thanks to the unforgettable presence of Alexis Texas. This curvy, apple-bottomed blonde is the perfect antidote to those who have overdosed on the slender figures of Taylor Rain or Jenna Haze. Evan Stone seems positively delighted in having her to himself, and immediately rims her and muff dives the second they hit the bed. An extended "69" session with her hungrily inhaling his cock bears repeated viewing, as Miss Texas makes almost constant eye-contact with the viewer. She gets banged cowgirl and doggy-style for awhile, and in the end he unleashes on her tongue and she licks it up without missing a beat.

Cover girl Rebeca Linares has rarely looked better than when she first appears here, in red and black bra and panties and locking eyes with the camera while crawling on a bed. I can't say enough good things about this girl, other than her cocksucking and anal work are always top notch. Fortunately, we get to see her do both with Jenner (who kind of resembles a heftier and younger Harvey Pekar). There is a shot where she makes the transition from reverse cowgirl to spooning anal, and that moment alone almost got me off. The only small disappointment is that the money shot lands squarely on her ass, and that she doesn't bother to take a swipe and a taste.

Blonde Riley Evans also does good work when she approaches Alex Gonz on a couch. Her long blonde hair and curvy figure remind me of Avy Scott - a terrific performer and overall nice person, incidentally. Alex sticks his hard-on somewhat into Riley's mouth, but she takes it all in stride. We also get to see her do some backdoor shenanigans in missionary style right before he unloads into her mouth, which drips out from her lips but with no swallowing.

Melissa Lauren is up next, and ever since she went brunette, her scenes seem to have gotten better and better. Danny Mountain grabs and gropes her while standing up, reaching under her sky blue lingerie and just going at it with nary a break in between positions. After getting screwed doggy-style, Melissa encourages him to boink her butt, which he does without any changes in her position and without any edits. The ass-to-mouth shots are always a nice, dirty part of any good anal scene, and the climactic swallowing by Miss Lauren is always welcome. Melissa must have appeared in more movies over the last few years than any other porn slut, so it's good to see that she's always in peak form.

The video loses a bit of momentum when Chayse Evans - a brunette with tattoos and a slightly thicker build - gets together with Alex Gonz for a surprisingly routine romp. I'm unfamiliar with Chayse's work to determine whether or not this is an average effort by her, but I would hope that there's more here than meets the eye. She does decent oral, and seems to be proficient in assuming any sexual position, and has no problems taking a dollop of man-goo to the mouth. Yet this scene is a bit too generic when compared to all the others.

Ann Marie is a Costa Rican cutie who has been in porn since 2001, but who first captured my attention when she started directing in 2004. Here, she performs with more energy and vigor then ever before, and lucky Jenner gets the brunt of all her physical expressions. She lies inverted on a couch and sucks him off wildly after getting finger-banged, and the momentum never stops. Her gasping, moaning and dirty talk are an absolute turn-on, and she plays it up for the camera shamelessly, but effectively. Even after Jenner shoots his load all over her face, Miss Rios looks straight into the camera and wipes the mess onto lens before sucking him dry. Just when I thought no one could top Rebeca Linares or Melissa Lauren in this video, along comes Ann Marie to steal the show.

Since the advent of digital home video, I've been breathless in my praise for Diabolic and Anabolic for their superb video transfers and quality DVDs. This Blu-ray proves that their quality control is unwavering. Extras could be a bit more generous, even though the Photo Gallery contains some sharp, hardcore images and the Behind The Scenes segment gives us some nice footage of Ann Marie, Rebeca and Melissa looking hot during a photo shoot. Bonus features on most gonzo titles have always been pretty limited to begin with, so I don't have any expectation that they will get significantly better with Blu-ray. But who cares about extra materials when the main content is this good? 1 ON 1 #2 proves that good, solid straight porn will always trump the latest fad or most popular trend so long as the quality is there.
