Blue Erotica

Blue Erotica is one of the first releases from new studio Platinum Blue, and as adult features go, this one falls somewhere in the middle. The movie is directed by Skye Blue, and those familiar with her previous directorial work (primarily for the now all-but-defunct Jill Kelly Productions) will have an idea of what to expect here.

The movie stars Justine Jolie as a radio talk show host who has a late night show called "Midnight Whispers" in which she details her fantasies to her listeners. The first fantasy has Frankie Dashwood masturbating with a dildo while she is thinking about a sex scene between Morgan March and Van Damage in an alley. Now, I really don't think women's masturbatory fantasies are about other women making out with a guy (rather than themselves), but this is porn and I'm not supposed to ask those kinds of questions! The pairing between Morgan and Van Damage includes some anal in the reverse cowgirl position and concludes with him jerking down onto her face and onto her body.

The next fantasy has Charlie Laine masturbating while she's watching Leah Luv (a girl whom I find extremely cute...must be those braces!) making out with Nick Jacobs. Leah's scene contains missionary, cowgirl and doggy - then finishes up with Nick exploding onto her face and into her mouth...although Leah lets most of the cum drip out and down onto her body.

Justine finally gets into the action herself in Scene Three, where she teams up with Genesis Skye for some girl-on-girl play. Things start off with Justine licking and fingering Genesis, then the girls take turns using a dildo on one another, with Justine going first and then allowing Genesis to use a dildo on her while she's bent over in the doggy position. The segment wraps up with Genesis going down on Justine's pussy.

Scene Four brings us two "veterans" of the industry. The always-reliable Randy Spears and the "gosh, I didn't even know she was still in porn" Liza Harper. I haven't seen Liza in a while (I may just be not catching the releases she's been doing), so it was kind of nice to see her in action once again. While the two pros are going at it, Justine is watching and masturbating with both her fingers and a dildo. Randy, as always, provides a pretty decent facial for Liza at the conclusion - so this turned out to be one of my favorite scenes in Blue Erotica.

For some reason, Skye Blue chose to shoot the final encounter - between Joelean and Christian (not performer Christian XXX, but another guy) - totally in black and white. I've only seen a few entirely B&W scenes in my years of porn reviewing, and I have yet to see one that works. This is no exception to the rule. Even if it was in color, I'm guessing the action would be viewed as average, at best...and in black and white, it's even more disappointing - so Blue Erotica doesn't end on a high note.

The extras on this disc are extremely thin. There's a not-very-well-put-together slide show, a cumshot recap option and a chapter selection. While the quality of the video is pretty decent, the 2.0 mix is rather disappointing. Instead of a proper balance of all the audio between the two channels, Blue Erotica has all of the music coming out of one speaker, and all the dialogue coming out of the other speaker - which can be really distracting. This is the only Platinum Blue DVD I've watched to date, so hopefully future releases won't have this audio problem.

The bottom line on this one is to definitely rent before you buy - even if you're a fan of some of the girls in the movie. This isn't a bad release, but it's not an outstanding one either, and with so many great titles out there to choose from these days, I'm afraid Blue Erotica isn't one that's going to set the porn world on fire.
