Inner Vision

A gorgeous close-up of Kira Kener's beautiful face is an open invitation for picking up INNER VISION, a Robby D video feature. For her fans (and I've just become one after viewing this movie), this movie can't be beat since she is featured in almost every one of five scenes. However, the overall video is really nothing which would take it out of the "average" category, especially when compared to recent Vivid titles like BAD WIVES 2 and MARISSA. Despite good direction and hot couplings, there just isn't that much going on in this plot-less feature other than Kira going from one "fantasy" vignette after another. Still, for those who want to get to know this AmerAsian beauty, this DVD is the one to pick up.

Kira shows up early in the movie, looking mighty fine in a tight, short skirt and crossing her legs so deliberately that the sex is almost a bonus. She spreads herself across the bar and lets Tyce Bune eat away before she takes her turn at oral loving. Bune then bangs her cowgirl and missionary style as a warm-up to piledriving her ass in a way that might Max Hardcore beam with pride. The anal scene is brief and slow, and the speed picks up again when he just screws her the old fashioned, vaginal way. He eventually shoots his load all over her pussy lips while she squeals in delight. It's not a wonderful scene, but it does the job.

In between vignettes we get some glamorous shots of Kira posing and dancing Andrew Blake style, in a series of letterboxed footage. The story picks up again with her seducing a package delivery boy played by TJ Cummings, a tongue-in-chick homage to the pizza delivery boy scenes which have long been a cliché in adult. Kira again imagines herself engaging in acts of lust and the action here, quite frankly, isn't that much different from the scene before it, except that the poor guy doesn't get his dick sucked. To paraphrase Hank Hill, "a porn scene without fellatio is like a pretty girl with short hair."

Cute Charmane is up next, in a foursome with Kira, Jason McCain and Nick Manning. There isn't much set-up to this set-up: the four of them are eating sushi, and suddenly Kira imagines all of them going at each other. The girl/girl segments are limited to just a few licks of Kira's quim, and once again, these guys are denied any oral action after so graciously providing the same to the ladies. I first encountered Charmane (via home video, not in real life, sadly) in the mediocre THE YOUNGER THE BERRY, THE SWEETER THE JUICE, so I know that she excels in the art of fellatio. But for some reason, the director doesn't give her a chance to show off these skills. Too bad.

Kira, however, makes up for her previous lack of dick sucking in the next scene when she goes down on Vince Voyeur for a prolonged period of time while sitting in a bubble bath. She then gets up over for an equally, long hard pounding while standing up doggy style, in reverse-cowgirl position and missionary. The only problem with this scene, indeed, with all her scenes, is that Ms. Kenner keeps her mouth as far away from the orgasmic goo as she can.

The always-sexy April Summers is featured in the next vignette, when Kira directs her and John Decker on a porn shoot with dialogue that seems to have been improvised (a script would have been preferable). April deep throats Decker terrifically, but there are moments where the camera seems stuck on Kira all worked up in the background instead of keeping the focus on April in the foreground. This are many annoyingly moments when we should clearly be watching April instead of the lovely Miss Kener, and it was enough to make me wish there were multiple angles available on this scene. Also, when Decker goes down on April, her cesarean scars (I assume they are cesarean incisions) are clearly visible right above her clean-cut pussy, which kind of spoils the cunnilingus shots. And while the fucking is all fine and dandy, April also foregoes an oral cumshot, and instead lets him squirt all over her butt. As a coda to the film, Kira approaches April for a little oral action, in a lesbian scene which goes on for about ten minutes, and looks more like filler than anything else.

The extras are all the good stuff you expect from Vivid, including a better than average photo gallery and a couple of extra scenes thrown in for your extra enjoyment. The Bonus Scenes include a segment several scenes with Kira and Devon (the male Devon, not cute blonde Devon), a couple of hot lesbian scenes, and a couple of double penetration scenes from Vivid's foreign imports including HAUNTED LOVE and MAKE UP, both of which seem to be a better movie than INNER VISION based on these short excerpts alone.

The multiple angles indicator on this disc can be disabled, a welcome practice which I hope continues with all future Vivid DVDs. Incidentally, I also discovered that the icon graphics occasionally disappear anyway if you speed search a movie and resume back to normal speed. Someone who has a degree in computer engineering should be able to explain this anomaly better than me. The video and audio quality is very good for most of its video portions, and a bit grainy during those snippets shot on film (or high definition video, if that is the source). I have to say that Vivid has come a long way in improving the quality of their discs, now if they would only go back and correct some of their earlier titles, there would be more Vivid titles than any other in my collection.

INNER VISION isn't visionary, nor does it get to the inner working of Ms. Kener. Still, when you have her spotlighted in five scenes, quantity prevails over quality and makes this disc a worthwhile choice for all her fans.
