Inside Sex Vol. 1

Inside Sex Vol. 1 takes us behind the scenes at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada, where prostitution is legal, but the film can't seem to make up its mind to whether it wants to be a look at the actual workings of the Ranch, or just another porno movie. There are at least two sex scenes in Inside Sex Vol. 1 which appear to have real "johns" with their clients, but the rest of the sex is made up of well-known pornstars having sex together, and in the two cases where males are involved, the male stars (the easily recognizable Mark Davis and Cheyne Collins) "pretend" they are actual customers of the ranch...yeah, right! Not only does this take away from the fun, but it made this reviewer wonder if the other two seemingly amateur guys that agreed to have their sex filmed were perhaps getting a freebie on Vivid's account just so they would have something to film.

Which brings me to my second point. If you have a fantasy that the girls of the Bunny Ranch are just as attractive and sexy as some of the girls you see in porn, think again. These girls don't look anything like the high-class escorts you'll find in your local phone book (at least, the kind I hear you can find there!), and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why any guy would want to put the kind of money down that these women are asking (both of the guys in this DVD got taken for $1000!) for an hour of sex with them. I mean, if these guys have that much extra cash just lying around, they should certainly be able to find a nice girl if they apply themselves properly.

There's also the fact that the Bunny Ranch is so concerned about disease, that the actual sex seems somewhat clinical, rather than erotic. Each customer must go through what is called a "dick check"...in which the guy is to strip down and let the girl examine his dick. I guess if they don't like the look of the thing, the show's over! Condoms are used at all times, even for oral sex...and apparently some girls don't allow oral sex to be performed on them, and if a guy want to finger the gal, he has to put on latex gloves. Once again, all this can be yours for just $1000!

There is some hot sex in Inside Sex Vol. 1, but it is only the sex that occurs between the porn stars. Dayton Rains and Cheyenne Silver (one of my personal favorites...and perhaps the only girl on this DVD I would actually chalk up $1000 bucks to be with...but alas, she's not a Bunny Ranch girl!) have a nice lesbian scene, and the movie concludes with a hot coupling between Dayton and Cheyne Collins (in which Cheyne tries to pretend he is just another customer at the ranch...and Dayton even gives him a "dick check"...but forgets to use a condom for the blowjob! I guess she wasn't paying attention earlier!).

As for the "real" sex, so to speak, Tiger J. (kind of the "madam" of the Ranch, from what I could gather) performs with a young looking dude, who doesn't seem to know that you're supposed to take the gum out of your mouth when filming a movie! Well, at least he was able to keep his "boy" up and at 'em...the guy who shows up later for a romp with the long-haired Serena was so nervous he needed some extra coaxing before he was even hard enough to start the action. On the other hand, Serena seemed more friendly and the kind of woman you might want to team up with were you to visit the ranch, despite the fact that she wasn't incredibly attractive and somewhat older.

The DVD also has some interview segments with the owner of the Bunny Ranch, Dennis Hof, who basically keeps plugging his house of ill repute and smoking a stogie. Overall, this is a DVD to get if you are interested in finding out more about the Bunny Ranch and not one to get for the sex alone, which is not very erotic or stimulating.

The extras on this DVD are numerous, and probably the part of the disc where you are most likely to get-off. There are six trailers, a meet the girls section, plus numerous other sections with include twelve more bonus scenes of varying quality and appeal. The video and audio are above average, although not pristine, and even though the audio is presented in 5.1, its not much better than a solid 2.0 track.

Overall, Inside Sex Vol. 1 is an interesting DVD, not so much for the sex as for the look it gives you at one of America's most popular brothels. Vol. 2 is already available on VHS, and I assume the DVD version will be coming soon. Despite not being turned on by this DVD, I found it interesting enough to recommend, and trust me...if you have any interest in the Bunny Ranch at all, you'll be glad you paid a few bucks now to check out this DVD than to pay $1000 later and not get the kind of fun you might be expecting!
