Pornstar Superheroes

I usually have low expectations when it comes to superhero parodies. They seldom work well with mainstream films, and with the exception of an old classic like MS. MAGNIFICENT, they certainly don't make much of an impression in porno. However, Vivid's recent BATMAN XXX may prove to be an exception assuming director Axel Braun can meet his own quality standards as demonstrated in his THIS NOT STAR TREK XXX series (as of mid-May 2010, I have not had an opportunity to view it yet).

In the meantime, we have PORNSTAR SUPERHEROES, a very entertaining and scorchingly hot adult movie which finds its inspiration from today's modern comic books (elements of The Watchmen, Captain America, The Uncanny X-Men and The Dark Knight Strikes Again are present) but also borrows from recent films (Asa Akira's sexy costume and weaponry is based on Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill, Volume 1, which of course, pays tribute to popular Hong Kong cinema) and television (the recently cancelled Heroes appears to be another influence). Naturally, anything with Tori Black (as The Silhouette) in it is worth watching, especially when she's fitted into a black bodysuit which might make fans forget similar outfits previously donned by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry. Likewise, Asa (aka Dragon Belle) has never looked better than when seen in a plaid short skirt. And Kristina Rose (otherwise known as The Kinetic) in tight white pants is enough to get any mere mortal all hot and bothered. Sadie West (playing The Renegade) looks damn sexy in a tee-shirt and skirt, but her costume could have been better designed to be sleeker and more revealing, instead of looking like something Avril Lavigne would wear.

There are five full-length sex scene spanning the two-hour, thirty minute running time. The movie plays like an anthology, with each member of the "The Meta Humans" engaging in their own villainous conflicts (otherwise known as fight scenes) followed by a victorious, carnal epilogue. Because we're dealing with female talents who are usually more skilled with their tongues than their fists, superheroics are primarily limited to those involving sexual acrobatics. So chances are, viewers will find Tori Black's anal scene with Michael Stefano far more thrilling than watching The Silhouette toss around bad guys. (While saving Mr. Stefano, she lifts two thugs by the neck like Darth Vader choking a Rebel, then throws them to the ground in a move whichm strangely enough, takes place off-camera).

Viewers may recall that Miss Black first indulged in backdoor shenanigans beginning with INTERACTIVE SEX WITH TORI BLACK and expanding (pun intended) into TORI BLACK IS PRETTY FILTHY (one of 2009's very best videos, by the way). Her affair with Mr. Stefano takes place in her secret hideout (which looks like an underlit, oversized freight elevator) and it is her best butt-banging work yet, performed in multiple positions and through the opening of her skin tight outfit. She takes a sizable load of splooge in her mouth, and appears to swallow it, but the scene fades out before presenting us with absolute proof. It's the only nitpick I have on an otherwise great Tori Black scene.

Asa Akira appears next, as a bodyguard and playmate to Mick Blue. They have sex after she kicks some Yakuza ass, courtesy of her martial arts prowess and some sort of blasting power which resembles a leftover special attack move from Street Fighter. Again, the hand-to-hand combat segments are quaint at best and become quickly overshadowed once Asa gets on her knees to blow little boy Blue. They fuck each other silly all over a bar, and after swallowing his cum, she lies down and snuggles beside him. (Clearly, Asa is a far better bodyguard than Kevin Costner or Adam Baldwin could ever hope to be.) Once again, it's a powerhouse scene which fits right in the larger-than-life characteristics of the movie.

But as with nearly any porno, PORNSTAR SUPERHEROES isn't perfect, and the remainder of the movie does have a few "faults." Kristina Rose's affair with Anthony Rose (whom she is trying to rescue as a government witness from the clutches of the mob) begins on-location on a barren mountainside, but then suddenly continues inside a brightly lit living room. Of course, Miss Rose turns in another top-notch performance, but it all ends up looking like a typical Elegant Angel-produced gonzo scene. The transition in visual styles is jarring, to say the least.

Also, Sadie West's scene is a bit too darkly lit and cramped for my tastes, but the surroundings are appropriate for her situation. She is pursued and captured by Manuel Ferrara in an industrial warehouse, and they screw like crazed weasels, mainly while standing up. Sadie's acting is nearly as good as her sexual performance, which is saying a lot. Her tortured soul leads into some furious cocksucking and desperate fucking which will keep audiences fully engrossed.

The movie continues with a climactic battle between The Renegade and The Kinetic, which is...cute, I guess. Shots are fired, bullets are caught, blasts of light are flashed, and then Asa and Kristina wrestle each other to the ground. (Yvonne Craig and Julie Newmar were certainly less coy than these two.) Their mutual assault ends with the two forming a friendship, and soon afterwards, they release their combined sexual powers on Steve Holmes. In what is undoubtedly a nod to Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, we see the participants initially wearing elaborate masks as they settle for a threesome inside an opulent mansion. While I'm not a fan of Mr. Holmes in the least bit (if only he would stop grinning during key moments!), I have to say that he knows how to control a scene. It's all rough and tumble aggression among the players, with rimjobs, finger-fucking, dual action fellatio, and inside and out schtupping. The only thing missing is anal, which is something that Asa doesn't do (yet) but Kristine has in other videos. Maybe next time.

The movie concludes with a ten minute coda, in which Asa and Kristina are now in black outfits and actively demonstrate their abilities as "sword goddesses." After the obligatory final fight scene, Keni Styles mystically appears and reveals a history of Nazi experiments which have now produced a modern threat of genocide. He informs them that other heroes will join, and together they will be dedicated to truth, justice and peace for all mankind (or words to that effect). After hearing his speech, I expected them to consummate their new partnership with a celebratory menage a trois, but instead, the credits are simply rolled out.

PORNSTAR SUPERHEROES has an audio commentary track performed by the directors Graham Travis and Willian H., as well as other studio personnel, including one of my favorite directors, Mason (also known as Sam No). They have a grand old time recounting the project, but remain politely silent during the hardcore scenes to avoid distraction. It's a fun and enjoyable discussion which can sometimes be difficult to hear, yet provides amusing details on almost every scene. The video and audio quality of this standard DVD is excellent, although this is the sort of movie which might benefit from a surround sound recording. Mainstream superhero movies like Superman Returns and Iron Man have been applauded for their stunning and inventive soundtracks, so a little bit more work on the Elegant Angel's part in providing an aural experience to match the terrific visuals would have gone a long way.

A second disc serves up a healthy number of bonus features including a Behind The Scenes featurette, an audio only directors interview, trailers, and five generous bonus scenes featuring the female cast and taken from SPORTY GIRLS 2 (Kristina Rose), BOOTYLICIOUS GIRLS (Asa Akira), PORNSTAR WORKOUT (Tori Black) and GLAMOUR GIRLS 2 (Sadie West). Jenna Haze fans will definitely want to see the excerpt from PORNSTAR WORKOUT in which she and Miss Black go full tilt with Mark Ashley. Even if you own all these movies, the isolated scenes are a convenient way to get more out of this new pack of superheroines.

PORNSTAR SUPERHEROES succeeds far better as a gonzo-based feature than an artistic cinematic event. It doesn't have the same polish and professionalism that similar big-budgeted movies like PIRATES, THE 8TH DAY and 2040 have, but it definitely delivers when it comes to arousal and satisfaction. I look forward to the sequel, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a kick ass porno!

I am just waiting for the next one. Elegant Angel truly outdid themselves. It was entertaining and horny as heck. Two of my new faves plus asian powerhouse Asa Akira gave this movie two thumbs up. You have to buy this movie.
