Jessie Vs. Misti

I will admit that sometimes I think the alt-girl genre tries a little bit too hard. At once, they're trying to be both conventional in delivery while still convincing the audience that they are ladies completely different from who we all normally watch fuck. It's a hard balance to follow, and it's usually the ones that don't try to be brash about it that succeed. This is why, with most Burning Angel releases, I complain about the music and calling bonus features "Extra Shit." That's just trying too hard while still delivering a similarly conventional product. It's , and it screams of marketing over art.

Jessie vs. Misti features the same mislabeled menu and awful music, but at least it also has two scorchingly hot women in action. While I don't like how Jessie Lee looks on the boxcover, don't make any mistake: she looks fantastic. And Misti Dawn should be a favourite to anyone who likes their redheads a bit more raw. Seven hot scenes follow, culminating, as they should, with the two ladies working a dude together.

Seriously, this scream rock needs to go away. Especially with sexual grunting in the middle of it. Goofy.

By setting this up into rounds, I had a fear they were going to try to take compilation scenes and splice them up to alternate. Thankfully, that's not the case. Jessie tries out Brian Street Team, though the acting hurts quite a bit. I was happy, though, that even when they messed up the lines, they didn't take it too seriously. And that's why so many of the Burning Angel flicks work: the performance itself doesn't take itself as the pinnacle of serious film. Brian is trying to make dinner for Jessie, but he makes hot dogs and Jessie's a vegetarian (me too!). His backup plan was a bowl of cereal. Hey look, sex! Having it start by having Jessie kind of get off by eating cereal is odd, but if you turn the sound off until they really get at it, it makes more sense. This one's a well lit scene in particular, and the camera behaves itself by not going too much for the extreme closeups. Having it be a money shot on a gingerbread man cookie that Jessie then eats is both funny and unnecessary. Just give us a good facial in the end.

Oh hell is Misti ever cute. Can I borrow her for a weekend? Please? Very, very cute with her dress in this one, with a tiny little skirt with a t-shirt. Add to that her sleeve tattoos and we're really all set. James Deen thinks so, at least. All of the clothes go away, maybe a little too quickly, and this scene then suffers from lighting that is just too high. Misti is too pale for that intense of light, as she washes out rather easily. Again, they have to put the money shot someplace odd, as this time James for some reason has to drop his load on one of her tattoos. I don't get it.

Jessie then takes on John Strong (kind of a bland scene despite the energy from both performers) while Misti gets her shot at Brian. I've decided I'm jealous of Brian. Dude's got it good. Much better for lighting for Misti in this one, and I'm a lot happier that she took some semblance of a mouth shot.

I didn't care for the third set on this disc, either. Jessie's scene was fun, but got a bit goofy, and Misti's hair was just all wrong in hers. But that's okay, because they've got it all dialed in for the last scene, where both ladies take on Mr. Pete. This one is very nicely done, even with the cum swapping in the end. Just not a fan of that... it feels too contrived.

A good flick all around here, though I would have liked some back door action for one or both of these ladies. I can't say I know if they do that, though, so maybe we'll leave that to Joanna herself on another disc. Jessie vs. Misti hits more than it misses, and that makes it a winner in my book.
