Impressive Presentation

By Oranje
The Mother/Daughter combo has been a bit of a staple in the adult industry as of late, and this foray by Digital Playground covers it with major studio glitz and feature film quality. And with three, count 'em three discs included in this rather impressive package, you'll want to do the whole family! Sorry, somehow I was going to have to make that pun. And not really the whole family. Nevermind, the joke's too broken to fix. Anyhow, one of the more interesting things about this film is how they tried to pair each mother and daughter up to make them look biologically conceivable. Kudos for that. So Stoya isn't Ron Jeremy's daughter or anything. Don't think too hard about that one. You know my complaints about Robby D's directorial style if you've read my reviews
before, so please let me emphasize that that's a matter of taste. From the standpoint of a viewer, I don't like his sweeping camera style during sex scenes. I freely accept that Robby is well-regarded in the industry, and that I am certainly not in the majority by being frustrated by his approach. And it really isn't anything personal. The overdone zoom and panning shots just make me feel even more like I'm not there with the scene than the fourth wall already indicates. Also, the scene index is kind of useless, something I would have thought would be better done on such a fantastically packaged film. Yes, we can count to 18, so you don't need to indicate that the tiny parcel of action we can see in each window is just some number. Maybe who is performing or what they're doing would be nice? Little things... make life easier on a reviewer! We open with a box of tissues. Ha! No, really. But we pan over, and it's Tommy Gunn having some fun with Diamond Foxxx. A decent feel to this opening, though I'd like the camera to
be moved up and tilted down just slightly. I feel as though I'm half-peering over the comforter. Still too zoomed in for my taste, too, and the lighting could be better. Sorry. Their interaction feels very natural, though, with the type of chemistry it should have. An interesting 69 sequence, though all from one perspective. Decent, but not ideal for me. Still, very good chemistry between these two, and it's a good establisher scene for the bit of plot we're trying to have. A bit of a body shot in the end for those of you keeping score on such things. Kayden Kross then plays the daughter to Diamond, and the acting isn't really quite there. Then Tommy has to start playing the creepy guy a little bit, perhaps vaguely hitting on Kayden. It's uncomfortable, and Kayden playing the petulant daughter in the rich house doesn't make me want to watch her do things. Now we're off to Selena Rose and Lisa Ann having an awkward mother-daughter conversation about breasts. More rich people, less empathy again. Ben English does a nice job as the not-creepy guy, something I never thought I would say. Though see if you think the cereal pouring goes on forever, or if it's just me. Was that an attempt at a metaphor, or just bad props? And more conversations on how one parent could do better than their current relationship. Then Riley Steele and Jesse Jane get overly blonde, in a remarkably overdone way. Dyanna Lauren plays the mother here. Quite a bit of plot at this point. And Manuel Ferrera is introduced as Dyanna's new boyfriend, with the music and the facial expressions between Manuel and Jesse tell us that isn't the first time they've met. Drama! Then there's enough swapping and bad parenting to call child protective services, with just about every permutation short of you can imagine. There's a lot of film here, so I'll let you explore the scenes yourself. Overall, it's fairly decent, if you can get into the plot, of course. If that kind of relationship drama isn't your thing, you might be better off looking somewhere else. All in all, while not my favourite film from a production standpoint, Mothers and Daughters does a nice job of being what it claims to be, with competent work and good chemistry all around.

Digital Playground's Mothers & Daughters (2012): daughters (and their girlfriends) teaching mothers life lessons about love, sex, and relationships!!

Awwww.

(pictured: mothers and daughters and Riley Steele... it frustrates me that Vicki Chase is not included in this shot)

This film is standard DP fair, with a plot and sex that you could almost recite verbatim the first time you see it (especially if you've ever seen even one DP film before). But it's also really pretty.

Some observations:

- "Please Mom's creepy boyfriend, take pictures of me for my MySpace page," says Kayden - wtf?!! MySpace?

- standard DP name schtick - Kayden Kross plays "Kayden," Selena Rose plays "Selena," etc etc . . . though Jesse Jane does play "Jess" (!!!) This practice must have at least something to do with trademarking . . .?

- standard DP orgy scene at the end.

- Dyanna Lauren is pretty much stunning.

- Tommy Gunn does sleazy really well. Ben English shows his acting range and is hilariously convincing as a guy who's more than happy to be Lisa Ann's lap dog errand boy.

- Riley Steele is the only "daughter" [minus the ever-(foolishly)-relegated-to-DP-second-string Vicki Chase - is this labor exploitation and/or being cheap... or just plain old dumb?] that doesn't have a "mother" in the movie . . . meh.

- and speaking of Riley, these images (taken from the inner-sactum of Mothers & Daughters' packaging) are a little troubling . . . I think we have another photoshop of horrors moment on our HANDS here.

- and speaking of mother-meh, Jesse Jane is in many ways ageless. I know she's pushing the MILF bracket, but I tell you she doesn't miss a visual beat here as Riley's buddy.

In a nutshell, Mother & Daughters is a way classed up version of Devil's Films' Wanna Fuck My Daughter Gotta Fuck Me First (the series!!) . . . with a slightly human twist via some lessons learned.

Or, according to DP . . .

"Getting these hotties . . . means scoring with mom first.

Maternal love goes to the XXX-treme, when lustful mothers lead by perverted example, showing their horny, jealous daughters the joy of unbridled sex. The hungry, gorgeous MILFs, Diamond Foxxx, Dyanna Lauren and Lisa Ann, get their poundings deep and hard so they can share their expert and wet techniques with their budding blossoms of hotness. Naughty daughters and rivals, beautiful Jesse Jane, Riley Steele, Kayden Kross, Selena Rose and Vicki Chase, have a wild all-orgy after handling the needs of their hung boyfriends, Manuel Ferrara, Ben English, Danny Mountain, Evan Stone and Tommy Gunn, deliver lurid, wild, uncontrolled play, igniting this sizzling drilling game played until mommy has had her fill and daughters drink from the fountain of youthful bliss." [sic]

Empty calories, but with some nuts.
