Lesbian Dolls 3

"Lesbian Dolls 3" looks like amateur product, and appears to have been shot in Europe. A couple of the sets look suspiciously foreign and while few of the girls open their mouth to speak, when they do it's clear the United States is not their country of origin. Unlike some other amateur films from outside the U.S. (some Brazilian product comes to mind) that attempt a connected story and feature more believable lovemaking, this film is very much in the American vein: four unconnected vignettes that include such things as a whip, a strap-on, a banana, and a cucumber. Sound interesting? Well, it isn't.

Until the strap-on makes its appearance?and that isn't until the last scene in the film?the toy use is notable only for its inadequacies. The whipping red-haired Rosanna delivers to Ilga's ass in the first scene is what is politely referred to as "playful." In other words, it is so weakly executed that it loses all value as a sexual stimulant. Similarly, the cucumber, washed and readied for action by Dawn, actually sees very little of it. Though both Dawn and her partner, Imola, put the poor girl's dildo to use, it's clear by the shallowness of any penetration that the girls are either wary of it or generally inept. Then there's the banana, which makes its appearance in scene three, evidently a repeat performance for the color-coded Kelly Red and Black Gabe. According to the liner notes, this scene is "even hotter than their first," which says volumes about their earlier tryst. Black Gabe here peels the banana, rubs it lightly over Kelly's body and pussy, then the two share bites of it. Trust me, it reads better than it plays.

In the early going the strap-on scene, too, seems poised to disappoint. With six girls and four scenes to do, somebody did the math and realized that a couple of the girls would have to do double duty. Rosanna and Imola get the call here. Yet Rosanna approaches the strap-on with the same trepidation as the whip, pushing it ever-so-shallowly inside her partner. It isn't until Imola decides to ride the thing that the film gets its first honest dose of hardcore.

For it isn't just the toy use that is light and passionless in this film, it's the sex in toto. There's gentle pussy grinding, light oral (with a lot of hand rubbing substituted in one scene), and very little fingering. Dawn, though not particularly accomplished, provides the best cunnilingus in the film.

Amateur films can be every bit as hot as mainstream features, but to be so something has to take the place of the high production value, excellent sound and picture quality, and stunning actresses that characterize their more professionally made counterparts. This film, however, offers nothing as a replacement?not passion, intimacy, realism, or anything else. It's a wannabe, and the simple truth is, neither the talent nor the technical resources are on hand to pull it off.

I might have liked this film, or at the least I might have appreciated it more, had some attempt been made to humanize it. Beginners and amateurs occasionally charm with the very naiveté that their professional status engenders. I would have liked to see these girls in more natural settings with simple situations that allowed their personalities to show. Instead, the scenes are obvious vehicles for sexual encounters, they are all constructed in a similar way (each begins with a short masturbatory episode before moving on to the lesbian portion), and three of them?those with the whip, cucumber, and banana?are so embarrassingly contrived that the girls' personalities wind up buried under the sexual demands heaped upon them.

Fittingly, even the bonus materials on this DVD are light and uninteresting: just a slide show filled with quarter-screen images and the usual website information, both of which are as forgettable as the feature.
