Look into my eyes. You're getting very...very...horny! Icon, written and directed by Dino Ninn takes a look at the premise of subliminal messages used in commercials. The subliminal message in this porn does not involve flashing images of popcorn to make the viewer hungry. No. This is much more exciting. Anyone watching the "Icon" in the moving imagery is instantly and naked seconds later. This makes for great spontaneous fucking.

Icon begins with the definition of the word "Icon" one of which is: "an image, a representation of great attention." Icon definitely gets your attention all right. The "Icon" in this case involves slithering bodies and intense sexual imagery. Dillion Day and Shelbee Myne are responsible for creating the Iconographic commercial.

Gwen Summers works at the studio in charge of producing the commercial and the movie begins with her impatiently waiting for Gina Ryder to perform the voice-over. Of course, she cannot, due to the fact that the erotic imagery is fucking with her mind. Evan Stone convinces Gwen to leave the room as he tries to "encourage" Gina to read the lines.

Two seconds later, they are both naked and fucking like animals. Gwen Summers comes back in and discovers Gina and Evan limp and unresponsive (aren't we all after sex?) and is convinced something is horribly wrong!

Throughout the movie, Ms. Summers tries to uncover and expose Shelbee and Dillion's evil empire of erotic brainwashing and in the meantime is stupid enough (luckily for us) to watch the commercial not once but three times. Each viewing results in scorching, uninhibited sex with Marty Romano and later, sexy Isabella Camille and Pat Myne (I love that name).

My favorite scene, however, involves Julie Meadows and Mark Davis who are shopping for a television set which happens to be showing the commercial. The doggie-style fucking in this scene is rhythmically pounding as Julie Meadows gorgeous body rides Mark's for what seems like an eternity. Her long, blond hair flows in slow motion and is as as the commercial in my opinion. Although no one seems to bother Julie and Mark in the electronics store they're shopping in, I don't suggest trying this scene at your local Best Buy.

Another sexual encounter that is worth mentioning was Shelbee and Dillion's office scene which incorporated great lighting techniques, fade shots, and really artistic camera effects. Shelbee is bathed in light as she gives Dillion a passionate blowjob in front of their office window. This scene also includes a long session of missionary-style anal sex.

Eventually, money hungry Shelbee and Dillion figure out that Gwen knows what's up. Shelbee offers Gwen a part of the cut to keep her quiet, ("your silence for a piece of the pie") but, Gwen pursues her quest for justice. If she doesn't stop them, everyone will eventually be completely and unable to break free from the . This scene involves a strange fight scene between Pat Myne and Shelbee Myne. Shelbee suddenly attacks Pat and apparently, with some flashes and slow motion, Pat fought her off...I guess.

Unless the box cover is read carefully, the story in Icon is somewhat obscure and illustrated poorly. More special effects could have been used to show that the viewer was becoming and there was some very perplexing dialogue in some of the scenes where the story became a lost cause eventually.

Visually and technically however, Icon gets an "A." Lighting is the key, I always say. And in Icon, this aspect is fantastic, with intense blues, smoky dreamy almost surreal looking shots, and interesting sets. The audio quality was superb as well and all the stars truly looked like Porn Icons. Extras included bios of the girls, a photo gallery, a virtual tour of VCA's other titles and contact information. (Kudos go to Chuck Bronco and L. Ron Kenobi who were the video and graphic artists.)

Cleverly done also, were the ending credits which show the entire movie in super fast forward showing quick flashes of each scene almost as if a subliminal message is hidden somewhere. Don't worry, if I'm writing this, I must be O.K.

If you're a fan of Gwen Summers (and this reviewer certainly is!), you won't find too many titles better than Icon when it comes to showing off her pure beauty and raw sexual skills. Directed by Dino Ninn, Icon doesn't provide much in the storyline department, but it is a well-filmed effort, filled with more than a few scorching sex sequences.

The premise of the movie is that a man and woman (Dillion Day and Shelbee Myne) have developed a commercial which makes all who view it totally give in to their sexual desires and fantasies. The problem is first noticed by Evan Stone, who is helping record the voice-over for the commercial, which is supposed to be read by Gina Ryder. Gina, however, doesn't seem to be paying attention to Evan, so when he goes into the soundproof booth to see what the problem is, he too is mesmerized by the commercial, and soon the two have stripped off all their clothes and are going at it with each other. Most of the sex in this opening scene is somewhat rough, yet passionate...and I especially like the way that Evan had Gina practically pinned up against the booth's glass, almost -feeding his cock to her.

Gwen Summers, who also works at the studio, becomes suspicious about the commercial, but not before she too is lured by its hypnotic power. Marty Romano is helping her view the commercial, and the two are soon fucking each other silly. Gwen looks great in this sequence, as she does in all three of the sequences she performs in for this movie. The only problem I had was that I was hoping Gwen would take a facial at least once in the film...but alas, neither Gwen nor any of the other women in this title take a cumshot anywhere near their lips.

Once Gwen is finished with Marty, it doesn't take long for her to realize what is going on with the commercial, and she flees the studio. The two people behind the subliminal messaging, Dillion Day and Shelbee Myne (although I suspected it was Vivid Video early in the movie...sorry, that's a bit of an inside joke!), are having their own rendezvous up in their office, but finish in time to see Gwen taking off.

In her car, Gwen calls up Julie Meadows back at the studio to tell her to get a copy of the tape, but not to watch it. Unfortunately, it is too late, as Julie looks at the video...and so does Mark Davis who also happens to be in the room. The sex between Julie and Mark is entertaining, although fans will want to note that there is no anal action here, a rarity in any scene in which Mark Davis performs in, as most adult fans know.

Isabella Camille, a foreign beauty who has been popping up in more and more adult features lately, delivers a copy of the video to Gwen, but once again the commercial is viewed and the two women get hot and heavy with each other.

Finally, the movie concludes with an okay scene between Gwen and Pat Myne, although I didn't enjoy this coupling nearly as much as I did the teaming with Marty earlier in the film.

The bonus features on this DVD are a little on the slim side for a VCA title, offering only a chapter selection, star bios, a slide show and three previews, along with some company and website information. The video and audio, however, are top-notch and about the best you are going to find on an adult DVD title.

Had a little more attention been paid in fleshing out the script, Icon could have been one of the best adult titles of the year. As it stands, it still has a number of well-filmed sex scenes, and customers should be more than pleased with most of the action in this title.
