Magnum Love

Billy Glide plays Peter Magnum in Magnum Love, a movie which I thought would be a take on the old CBS series, Magnum, P.I., but instead plays like a modern day film noir type picture. Despite a box cover which shows off the lovely figure of Stacy Valentine, the real focus of this movie is on Billy, the killer he is after (who is played by Mickey G.) and a police detective played by Mike Horner, in another great performance by this veteran porn actor.

The movie opens with an extremely hot looking Julie Meadows taking it from Billy in his office. Julie looks especially tasty wearing glasses and white thigh highs for that naughty secretary look that we all love (well, at least I do!). After the action between Julie and Billy is over, Billy gets a phone call from the police saying that a former girlfriend whom he was deeply in love with (played in a non-sex flashback by Sydnee Steele) has been murdered.

Arriving at the crime scene, Billy meets up with Mike Horner as the two try to figure out who has done this horrible act. The killer has left behind a poem for the police, and Mike points out (quite humorously) that this killer will never "win the Nobel Prize for literature!"

The next scene is the first we see of Stacy Valentine, as she is making out with John Decker in her bathroom. I've seen John Decker in several other adult titles, including Mind Fuck and Taboo 16, and he's quite a good actor, but he is given little to do here other than be Stacy's boy toy (although I supposed there are worse things to be in life, aren't there?). After Stacy is finished with John, she gets a visit from Billy. While John is still in the other room, Stacy tries to comfort Billy by giving him a blowjob. Watching this, I couldn't figure out who was more stupid: Stacy, for trying to blow a guy while her boyfriend was still in the next room; or Billy, who actually stops Stacy from what she is doing and decides to leave! In fact, in the very next sex scene with Billy, he will do the same thing with Chloe, letting her start to blow him, and then zipping up before the action starts getting good. I think it is to show that the character of Peter Magnum has control over the women in his life, but come on...who turns down a blowjob? Especially from the likes of Stacy and Chloe?!

Fortunately for Chloe, her needs are met after Billy exits and Stacy and John show up to finish the job. Unfortunately for the viewer, there is not much lesbian contact in this three-way, aside from a few licks Chloe gives to Stacy's breasts after John cums on them (and no, she doesn't lick up the cum either...damn it!).

During all this action, of course, there is a storyline going on. Although I found the logic of the storyline sometimes hard to follow (I really thought the movie needed to be edited down a bit...it is 116 minutes and it seems to take forever for Billy to finally catch up with the killer), the basic premise is that Billy has to find a girl played by Syren since (from what I could gather) she was one of the women still living that had actually seen the face of the killer. Naturally, the killer is also trying to get to Syren to get rid of her before she can talk. He's also after Stacy, since he broke into her apartment but was scared away by John Decker before he could kill her.

In perhaps the biggest stretch of logic this movie takes, one of the final sex scenes of the movie has Stacy agreeing to have sex with Mickey G. (who once again, is our beloved killer) in order to allow Syren and her friend (Renee LaRue) to escape. Of course, since any indication of would be very taboo for an adult film to present, the only way for the killer to make out with Stacy is to have her want him to do it. While this may make for a fun encounter to watch, it also sends the wrong message and for that reason, made me like the film a little less than I may have, had the scene not occurred.

Overall though, especially if you are a Stacy Valentine fan, Magnum Love is worth your time. There's plenty of sex to watch, and while the plot isn't always coherent, Mike Horner's performance alone should keep you entertained while you are waiting for the next sex segment to begin. The video and audio are top notch on this disc, but the features are only so-so, providing one trailer, cast biographies and a slide show.

Magnum Love is a dick, a private eye to be more specific. He has hard days at the office. The first scene of the movie shows us just how hard it can get, as Magnum Love(Billy Glide) gives and gets a bit of oral from his receptionist (Julie Meadows). This scene is one of my favorites from the whole movie. She is really worth watching especially with all of her enthusiasm. Alas, he cannot finish the job as a call comes in...there has been a murder. So, what's a girl to do? She decides to finish the job herself and completes the scene masturbating. Magnum, meanwhile, is having flashbacks while driving of a girl he knew and loved. She was a blind girl (Sydnee Steele), who does a top rate job of acting in this role. As Magnum arrives on the homicide scene, he is greeted by the police investigator (Mike Horner) who informs Magnum that the murder victim is none other then Sydnee.

Stacy Valentine is in her bathroom having sex with John Decker. But wait, there is a knock on the door. She opens the door to find a dick. Yes, the P.I. himself has come to question her on Sydnee's murder. I personally find this to be hokey, but there seems to be some thought behind the process. Magnum comes and goes and Stacy is still unsatisfied. So what does a girl do? That's right... masturbate! Meanwhile, Mickey G has broken into her place and intends on hurting her. He had a scar on his face and plays a convincing lunatic. The plot thickens. But, what I will elaborate on next is the sex scene. Chloe is always wonderful in her sex scenes, but pair her up with Stacy and you've got a real treat for the senses.

As the dialogue continues, I lost a bit of interest, as the corny lines just got old. However, hope arrives in the name of Syren. We first see her as a lesbian lover and she is very erotic. The girl/girl scene gets to me, as I cannot take my eyes off her. The story continues to unfold predictably, but I am treated to a great scene once again, as Syren seduces Mike Horner. She gives a wonderful blow job with her exotic face, accepts oral in return, gets on top for reverse cowgirl, bends for doggie and completes with missionary.

The DVD offers "Scene Jumps" which are always helpful. The Photo Gallery has hardcore outtakes which flip on their own, and there are plenty of pics to view. "Star Bios" offers some of the girls' stats with pictures and an automated scene from the movie that you can jump to. Be warned that in this mode you can get caught in a loop, but it is only a inconvenience. Other Titles offers one trailer. "Virtual Tour" is a promo for VCA Interactive.com. "Internet" is a promo for CD titles and DVDs. "Contact" states the website and e-mail address. Overall, the DVD offers some extra stuff to entertain you. I would recommend this feature based on the cast. Sydnee Steele, Mickey G and Mike Horner perform well in their acting roles. Stacy Valentine, Chloe, Syren and Julie Meadows are all very captivating in their sex scenes.

Bob Chinn's Magnum Love (a script originally written for John Holmes) seems slow and drawn-out. Credited on the DVD as the "Final Director's Cut," perhaps the VHS release was less indulgent.

This disc has pixelation throughout, verging into Danger Will Robinson territory during darker sequences. The disc was mastered in Dolby digital stereo, but it sounds as muddy as it looks.

Extras consist of a live-play photo gallery, cast bios that include chapter buttons for the featured stars, and a passel of chapter stops.
