Only Game In Town?, The

Although credited to Cash Markman and "Isabelle Snow," the 1991 VCA feature presentation ONLY GAME IN TOWN? looks and feels like a Jim Holliday movie from the opening scene to the end credits, which will either delight or repulse the viewer depending on how they feel about this "porn historian." Laden with goofy premises, less-than-witty repartee, and functional sex sequences, this GAME is less self-reverential and annoyingly "cute" than in Mr. Holliday's recent works --- like PERFECT SMILES, CAR WASH ANGELS, and his other misguided novelties in erotica --- thanks largely to great performances by Angela Summers, Aja and Tianna. Whether the very modest success of this video is due to Mr. Holliday's credited influence is debatable.

However, with nine satisfying, albeit quick-edited hardcore scenes, GAME still stands the test of time and is at the very least, worthy of a look for the all-star cast populating this football and cheerleader-themed video. The average porn viewer should find something or someone to enjoy during this ninety-minute movie. So, even if this film is just "above-average" overall, there are some standout sex scenes which warrant making this video a keeper.

There are five straight, girl-guy scenes involving Bionca with Peter North, Madison and Randy West, Angela Summers and Peter North, Tianna and Ron Jeremy, and finally Candace Heart with Joey Silvera. Disappointingly, none of these scenes ends in a cum facial, and the action is serviceable, but not exceptional. While Tianna and Madison are clearly expert dick suckers, each act of penetration is performed rather perfunctorily, but satisfactorily. None of these suck and fuck sequences would qualify as a performance best for any of the actresses, but the variety of women go along way. In particular, blonde cutie Angela Summers is always worth watching in almost anything, as most of her work has yet to appear on the DVD format. Watch for her introductory appearance in Evil Angel's classic WILD GOOSE CHASE, and you'll see why this actress quickly became a fan favorite.

The best scene involves a six-way all-girl orgy, where all the cheerleaders gather in a daisy chain to munch each other's pom-poms. Again, each actress has done performed in much better lesbian scenes, but the spectacle of watching Angela, Bionca, Aja, Tianna, Britt Morgan and Missy Warner eat, prod and lick each other like hungry kittens is a sight to behold. Aja looks especially good with her dark flowing hair and big doe eyes. A superstar of the late eighties, Aja has always been a favorite of mine even over a decade later. Since she has to share screen time with five other actresses, we don't get to see her as much as I'd like, but her straight scene which follows makes up for her reduced screen time.

Following some Jim Holliday-ish plot points (the speed search button on the remote comes in handy during these moments), Aja and Jeanna Fine are at their best in a two-couple fuck fest, with Aja being teamed with Mike Horner and Jeanna being matched with Randy West. Again, this foxy brunette looks great with her legs spread wide as Mike eats out her pussy, and certainly Jeanna sucks cock like no one else. Both take cum facials although the cross-editing makes the view less than ideal.

Once again, VCA DVD has produced a great looking picture with clear, flawless, intelligible sound. Extras are limited, but unnecessary in light of the age and content of the featured video (actually, I'm glad that VCA has foregone any lame commentary or "making of..." featurette which usually afflicts Jim Holliday productions).

Since I originally saw this movie on VHS some time ago, I see that the sex hasn't really aged that well, but it's great to see stars like Angela, Aja and Tianna again at their peak.
