Nasty Nymphos 1

Now approaching its fortieth edition on videotape, NASTY NYMPHOS happens to be one of the earliest and most popular straight gonzo series of its kind from the very dirty minds at Anabolic. Without any pretense to plot, characterization, or dialogue (other than a few introductory exchanges between the principle actors and the director), each volume simply presents a couple (or a trio, or more) in front of a camera, and within seconds, they are doing what comes naturally in porn.

If all this sounds familiar, it's because this simple set-up has been used (and in the some cases, abused) repeatedly in almost every gonzo series now crowding the DVD market, including the majority of flicks produced by Red Light District. Though NASTY NYMPHOS didn't originate this style, it damn near well perfected it. Forget about any prolonged foreplay, intense kissing, or anything else which might otherwise appeal to couples. This series is only about doing the nasty and doing it hard. I've been a longtime fan of the series since volume three, and some of the most memorable encounters and hottest scenes can be found in future editions, including unmatched performances by Misty Rain, Rebecca Lord, Tara Monroe, J.R. Carrington and Francesca Le among so many others.

However, I won't lie to Adult DVD Empire customers and state that #1 of the series (which obviously has finally made its way onto DVD, much to my delight) is up there with other stand-out, Anabolic titles like BALLS DEEP 2, IRON MAIDENS, or UP YOUR ASS #18. First of all, the video quality falls below average when compared to modern productions. Most of the scenes look almost black and white in nature, and there is a definite lack of detail and definition overall. However, any shortcomings in visual quality is undoubtedly due to the original masters, since it's very well known that Anabolic has long produced some of the best looking DVDs in adult. Subsequent volumes on videotape would look much, much better and we can expect their DVDs to follow suit.

Secondly, with the exception of the Sierra/Tom Byron, Vixxen/T.C., and Wednesday/Adam (now popularly known as John Decker) affairs, the remainder of the scenes are strictly average. That's not to say that the hardcore is un-arousing, but the couplings between Cash and Damian, Tabitha Cash and Derrick Taylor, and the interracial threesome with Krista, CJ Bennett and Sean Michaels are admittedly routine when judged by the standards of the new millennium. You get to watch Sierra, Cash and Wednesday participate in anal sex, and Cash, Tabitha and Wednesday take facials, but that's about it as far as the nastiness goes. The truth is, audiences have been so jaded by the kind of X-rated material cranked out today, that nothing in NASTY NYMPHOS #1 looks truly outstanding.

This first edition does, however, give fans a chance to witness the underrated work of some unheralded performers. Sierra, who appears on the cover, is a brown-haired cutie who is a master oralist and performs with non-stop energy. Vixxen is a sexy blonde with a lean body and an attitude which makes her a pleasure to watch in any scene. The washed-out video does not flatter any of the girls, but watching them in this flick should inspire you to track down their other flicks.

Extras on this disc are predictably limited to a Photo Gallery, a bunch of previews on the other side of the disc, and other Anabolic advertisements. The Cum Shot Recap, which is accessible as a separate chapter on this disc, is always a welcome touch.

The debut of NASTY NYMPHOS #1 on DVD is a good beginning of greater things to come. Stick with this title in the future and you'll be rewarded with orgasmic goodness.
