Barrett Blade is On Target as The Hitman

By Emperor Palpatine
Barrett Blade stars as "The Hitman" in this new title from Digital Playground directed by Robbie D. Although billed as a comedy (and there are indeed some good comedic moments in the film) there's a sense of slight sadness to the movie as we find ourselves wrapped up in the life of a hitman who no longer has the nerve or will to kill the females that he is assigned to whack.

The movie opens with Barrett off on one of his assignments - he's been given the order to off Sunrise Adams, who owes his boss Tony (played wonderfully by Herschel Savage) $20,000. Barrett prepares himself mentally for the task he is about to undertake (there's a lot of voice-overs by Barrett during the film so we know what he is feeling), but once Sunrise offers him a blowjob, Barrett can't bring himself to kill her and instead gets it on with her in an outdoor scene by the pool.

Failing his assignment, Barrett must now go back to Herschel and explain to him that he didn't kill Sunrise, nor did he get the $20,000. Herschel lets him off the hook (this time!), but gives him another job to prove his worth...with the strict instructions that if he doesn't come through this time, Barrett will be the one with a bullet in his head.

After Barrett leaves, Herschel has sex with DoLorian, who looks great and actually keeps some roller skates that she is wearing on throughout most of the sex scene (reminding one immediately of Heather Graham from Boogie Nights).

Before Barrett takes on Hershel's assignment, he gets another mission from one of the other guys he works for, and as he approaches the location of this hit, he runs into a fellow hitman who has also been assigned the duty. The hit is on Alexa Rae and Jay Ashley, and Barrett and his pal flip a coin to see who will do the hit. Fortunately for Barrett (whom we already know has trouble killing women), he loses the coin toss, and his friend gets to do the job...but not before he allows Alexa and Jay to have one last fling on top of their pool table.

Back at his home, Herschel Savage asks wife Jessica Drake for a blowjob. She's reluctant at first, but agrees to do so if Herschel will give her some oral pleasure first. He's a little reluctant, but agrees and the two continue the action in the cowgirl and spoon positions...ending with a facial pop-shot. But Jessica has had it with Hershel's cheating and evil ways - she wants a divorce, but Herschel swears it will never happen.

The Hitman concludes with Barrett arriving at the location of Herschel's assignment...only to find out that he's been asked to kill Herschel's wife! Of course, Barrett doesn't find this out until after he's had sex with Jessica - and when Herschel arrives to find both of them naked and his wife still alive. Barrett and Jessica take off together...but Barrett knows he now is a marked man.

The Hitman is one of the better features I've watched from Robby D., and proves to be a quite entertaining title. Although it's not anamorphic, the movie is shot in the letterbox format, giving it a theatrical-feel. Both the video and audio (which is in 5.1 Dolby) quality is above average, and if there's anything to complain about here, it's the fact that there is no behind the scenes material or director's commentary track on the DVD to tell us a little more about the film and how it was made. Bonuses do include a nice number of trailers, a Robby D. biography and a photo gallery.

It's always nice to see an adult feature where as much thought has gone into the story as has gone into the sexual action. The Hitman is one such film, and it's one worth adding to your adult collection.
