Burn After Reading

By Spooky
Although there may be a few more releases hiding in the vault somewhere at Vivid and Club Jenna, Burn is reportedly one of the last movies Jenna Jameson ever shot, way back in June of 2004. Teaming up once again with Director Paul Thomas and her then-husband Justin Sterling, Burn is an adult homage to the Maggie Gyllenhaal/James Spader mainstream film Secretary, with Jenna playing a mousy secretary to new boss Justin, who slowly inducts her into the kinky world of S& M.

What's a bit different here is the fact that Jenna's character is in a lesbian relationship with Stephanie Swift that turns both dark and jealous as Jenna becomes more and more involved with her new boss. Like a lot of porn movies, the story ends just when it starts to get interesting, as Stephanie's character finally confirms that Jenna has been unfaithful to their relationship.

Die hard fans and followers of Jenna are well aware that in her last couple years of performing she only did boy/girl with her husband, so it shouldn't come as a shock that Jenna's only straight scene in Burn is one with Justin. What may come as a surprise, however, is how little boy/girl sex there is in the remainder of the movie. Other than the Jenna/Justin pairing (the film's final scene), the only other straight sex occurs when Jenna visits an S & M club and we get to see some boy/girl action between Lauren Phoenix and Mr. Marcus, followed by an anal scene involving Taylor Rain and Evan Stone.

The rest of Burn's sexual action consists of either solo masturbation segments or girl on girl pairings. The first scene features redheaded Justine Joli masturbating in a bathroom stall with a clear jelly dildo, which is followed by a pair of scenes between Jenna and Stephanie. Jenna's most involved lesbian session takes place in the S & M club, where - chained to a table - Jenna gets pleasured by four women, primarily Cytherea, who fingers her and then 69s with her. Viewers also get one more Jenna/Stephanie pairing late in the film, where Jenna takes some of the bondage lessons she has learned and becomes the aggressor - paddling Ms. Swift and sticking four fingers up Stephanie's behind.

While the sex is solid, if not fantastic, the most glaring problem with Burn is with the picture quality itself. The movie was shot on film back in 2004, so it already suffers from not being made for the anamorphic format (Burn is presented full frame) and from the occasional grain that tend to inhabit these types of productions. But there are additional problems here that can only be blamed on the director himself, the usually reliable Paul Thomas. For starters, the movie isn't very well lit at all. While most of the outdoor footage looks fine, and some of the indoor shots (at Jenna's home, for example) are acceptable, the scenes that take place in the office environment, the S & M club and the final scene between Jenna and Justin are way too dark. Worse than that, however, is the fact that about 50% of the movie is actually out of focus. That's right, a great deal of the movie is quite blurry. Whether this is because Thomas decided to "soft light" his actors and overcompensated, or because his cameraman just wasn't paying attention is anyone's guess...but half the movie looks this way. Perhaps the most unforgiveable bit of all this is that the Jenna/Justin scene is both dark and blurry - ruining perhaps what is perhaps Jenna's final boy/girl scene in a movie with incompetent filmmaking.

Although this is a major Jenna Jameson movie, Vivid hasn't done anything more with the bonus materials than they would a normal DVD release. We get behind the scenes footage (about 20-mintues, including some nice interviews with both Jenna and Paul Thomas); five bonus scenes taken from other Vivid titles (including two with Jenna from both The Masseuse and Jenna's Gallery Blue); a Jenna text biography; movie slide show; and four trailers for other Vivid releases. Oh, and we're once again bombarded with numerous ads front-loaded onto the disc advertising various Vivid products and sites. Vivid's also gone rather cheap with the packaging, designing an all-cardboard case that flips open like a matchbook cover...and is about as durable as one, too.

Even without all the above problems, Burn would still be considered an average Jenna Jameson movie. Jenna's a good enough actress to keep viewers interested in the film, and it's always fun to watch her get naked (among other activities), but this film doesn't come close to matching previous Jenna movies from Vivid/Club Jenna such as The New Devil In Miss Jones, or even the rather uneven Janine Loves Jenna.

Jenna J final lesbian scene

By Da boss
Two of the greatest porn stars ever do Jenna's final lesbian scene! Stephanie and Jenna do the scene justice and are very passionate in every second of the scene ... personally I'm into Stephanie more with her gonzo tendencies!
